They're just hyping as usual... trying to level out the playing field for both fighters. Don't be fooled - no one can touch GSP right now.

I don't feel strongly about any wagers on this card without drinking the juice. Therefore, I should probably pass on wagering on it but there hasn't been a UFC card in a while and I want some action.

What to do.. what to do..?

Yes, I think it's possible. Patrick is leagues ahead on the feet and Roberts' gas tank is sketchy to say the least. Also, Roberts' defensive grappling has never really been tested. I definitely feel more comfortable playing Patrick straight up.

Yee Robert's gas tank is questionable, perhaps a 3rd finish or something isn't out of the question. Contemplating a double parlay with Patrick and Jensen.

I'm considering a big bet on GSP...

What good would this event be if Canada's most prized fighter loses in what is supposed to be a rallying call for Canadian fans. Of course anything is possible, but it there was to be bias by the officials it shouldn't be for Jake Shields, the last thing the UFC wants is a scandal against a Canadian player.

    anyone agree?

i thinking, even if very close, gsp will get the nod. arb with jake submission of the knight, that the only reasonable bet in my opinion, how can he not get submission of the night?

If i make a play on this fight, I'm considering a similar strategy. I just can't see Shields winning a decision, especially in GSP's turf and given the crack-headed-ness of judges lately. I just don't see him having the skillset and cardio to win enough rounds and get a decision; furthermore, given his past history of his gas tank, IF this bout makes it to the championship rounds, I see GSP's cardio advantage really amping up... so Shields by decision is completely out of the question for me. And if Shields shows up and puts GSP on his back for 5 rounds Saturday and wins a decision, then more power to him, and I'll eat my shorts.

Though I would be careful about hedging with Jake sub of the night -- I see your logic there, but there are some other crafty sub guys on the card who may pull off a nice sub --> Diaz, Claude Patrick, Daniel Roberts, Bocek, JMac... quite a few.

Shields sub of the night is +700. I'd instead suggest hedging with Shields by sub +625 just to be a bit safer given my note above, as you don't lose out on much payout. Or if feeling ultra conservative with a hedge -- Shields inside the distance +541, just in case he gets mount, starts raining down those pillow hands of his and the ref makes a bad TKO stoppage

I just can't see how Shields wins this other than the grappler's equivalent of a lucky punch. Maybe they have a scramble and shields gets his back but there is nothing Shields brings to the table that GSP hasn't handled with ease in Fitch, Alves, Kos.

Waiting for the weigh-ins in an hour, but one thing I noticed in the presser video is that Shields looks kinda big; though could be perspective / camera angle / etc... just found it interesting.

I do agree with everything you say. When that beeing said, ufc seems to be favouring the people on the main card especially the main event, even though the submission sucks. Kind of irritating.

    Lyoto & Randy

    Jose & Bocek

GSP & Shields (note: Shields was leaning in, for anyone really concentrating on size comparisons here)
