    Strike Force Challengers 15
series in Stockton California, Friday night the main card is on show time at 11pm.

The main event of this night of fights is Justin "The Silver back" Wilcox (10-3) vs Rodrigo Damm (9-4). This beast of a man Justin Wilcox is only 5'6 and 155 lbs but is giant man for his size and should handle Rodrigo Damm (5'7 155lbs) who is a good veteran of the cage but has problems vs elite competition. The nick name "The Silver back" fits this guy to a tee he looks like a gorilla and is a great wrestler but no matter how many blows of Wheaties he eats still lacks the KO power in his hands to drop Rodrigo Damm in the early rounds. Justin has 5 straight wins and 4 of the 5 are by decision, and the only guy he got in a no decision was David Douglas "Tarzan" in a rear naked choke. Rodrigo Damm is a Jiu Jitsu Alliance product out of San Paulo, Brazil and can hold his own but should be taken to the ground and manhandled by the bigger Wilcox. Plus Rodrigo Damm is coming into the fight a loser of 3 of his last 4 fights. I would think that the lack of power in Wilcox's hands and wrestling ability and size should be a easy victory by decision or submission! The fact that Damm grew up in Brazil and trained with guys who are great off there back i would go with decision for Wilcox.

Lorenzo Larkin (8-0) vs Scott Lighty (6-1)(4ko,1sub,1dec)
    (replacing Satoshi Ishii)
This fight should be a interesting bout with both guys having KO power and both fighters like to finish their opponents early in fights. Larkin has only been a pro for a year and half but has a impressive record of 8-0 and has a streak of 4 of last 5 by way of knock outs in the 1st round. Larkin has some quick hands and power in them to, but the short notice in which he took the fight makes his conditioning suspect. Lighty on the other hand has trained with the likes of Chuck Liddell and is ready for this bout! Lighty has a good stand up game and some good power in his hands. The difference in the fight might be Lighty possessing the ability to take it to the ground where Larkin could be vulnerable and bring in it to the later rounds where Larkin has never been before. If Lighty stands and throws hands with Larkin he could get knocked out early and would play to the young guys only game plan with all the power he has in his hands. I like Lighty by decision and think he wants nothing to do with Larkins power and will take him down. (Satoshi Ishii couldn't get out of Japan due to earth quake.)

Caros"The Future"Fodor vs David "Tarzan" Douglas
    (7-2 wins,6 subs,1 Dec:Loses,1sub,1dec) (8-2,7ko's,1subwins)(loses,2subm.)

Alright this fight should be full of excitement with the way David "Tarzan" Douglas brings the heat and resembles a man possessed at times with his aggressive fighting style. David is a Cesar Gracie product and has a great submission game and is great on his feet to with KO power in each of his hands! He grew up with his dad(Danny Douglas black belt in Jiu Jitsu) teaching him and his brother Damian how to fight and respect the sport and they both started training at a very early age. Caros Fodor had a little experience in H.S. wrestling in Washington, but never took it to seriously until he got out of the Army(fought in Iraq). That is when he joined AMC Pankration where he excelled and developed a great ground game that lead to since 2008 five submissions one decision and one lose. Tarzan said, in a article i read on ESPN that "it's like Fodor is on Death row and I'm the electric chair" and he also said he believes he is taking food out of his children's Mouth's and he would die for his family! These few comments have me a believer in this man's mind set and with the weight he packed on his frame is the bigger man if they go to the ground. The break down is this they could go to the ground if they do they are both deadly in submissions but Douglas is bigger and if they stand Tarzan (Douglas) is better there to so Tarzan is the play!

Gegard Mousasi (30-3-1) vs Keith Jardine (17-9-1)

Saturday night 10 pm, in San Diego Cal.

    The Match-up

This fight will offer a way into the U.F.C. for the fighter who wins, Plus a shot at the light heavy weight title of Dan Henderson for Mousasi. Mousasi was on the fast track to stardom and held the Strike Force Light Heavy Weight title before losing it in a 5 round decision to a great wrestler in "King Mo" (Muhammad Lawal). Gegard Mousasi is 24 years old Kick boxer from the Netherlands, and before losing his title to King Mo he had won 15 straight fights. Mousasi was supposed to fight Mike Kyle before a broken hand made Kyle pull out of the fight. Keith Jardine stepped in on a weeks notice and is a desperate 35 year old fighter looking to resurrect his M.M.A. career. Jardine shocked the world in 2007, when he convincingly beat Chuck Liddell by decision. Jardine was then was cut by the U.F.C. for losing 5 of his next 6 fights. He knows that a win here could reopen the door to the UFC, and that's what makes him a dangerous fighter this Saturday night with nothing to lose.

    The fighter -
Mousasi is a natural and started training in judo at the age of 8 years old. By the age of 16 he was the youth boxing champion of the Netherlands. His rise to the top was very impressive, as Gegard has KO or submitted 28 of his 30 opponents. Mousasi is both dangerous on his feet and on his back in his guard defense. On his back he has KO power with a deadly up-kick and arsenal of submissions. His favorite submission off his back is to catch his opponents with a triangle choke. Mousasi's stand up game is very fluid and has KO power in either of his hands. The one weakness Gegard showed in the King Mo fight was, that he couldn't stop a great wrestler from taking him to the mat. He shouldn't have that trouble with Jardine, since he isn't a great wrestler. Jardine's unorthodox stand-up boxing style and the lack of time to prepare for him, might give Mousasi a problem in the 1st couple of rounds.

    The fighter
Jardine knows at 35 years of age, the sun may be setting on the better half of his career. The man is a warrior, with a ton of miles on his body. A few things give Jardine a shot to win Saturday night. the first being, He's a hungry experienced fighter who has fought some of the best fighters in the world at his weight, and second is his stand up boxing style throws off his opponents timing. He knows if he doesn't pull off a upset here, that he will not get another chance at getting back into the U.F.C. The short notice of the fight, and caliber of opponent makes me think, that Keith has a huge mountain in front of him to climb. Jardine's chin is not his best quality, and once Mousasi finds his range and timing, his smooth stand up game will control the fight. The other option taking the fight to the ground might not be a bad idea, if Keith can avoid Mousasi's plethora of submissions from his back. One thing that worked for Keith in the Liddell fight, was his punishing kicks to the front leg of Chuck's taking the power way from his hands. Jardine never went back to that style of fighting, after that fight, and never had the same success he enjoyed that night vs chuck again. I would love to see him go back to that style of fighting and with mousasi power i feel it would be beneficial.

The Ml Line: For Gegard Mousasi it's (-600) and way to high! but if you like a live dog Jardine at(+400) would be profitable and he has everything to lose from a lose!
    The Pick:
I personally would bet Mousasi, Diaz, and Melendez in a parley at +115 2x!! Two of them are champions and one is on his way.

Strike force Valley View Casino Center in San Diego this Saturday (Showtime, 11 ET/PT),
    Strike force Welterweight Championship
    Nick Diaz(24-7) (-225) vs Paul Daley (+185) (27-9-2)

    The match-up:
This fight for Nick Diaz will be third title defense of his Strike Force Welterweight Title vs Paul Daley a Brit. who will bring thunder with power in either hand to the cage with him Saturday night. Nick Diaz a twenty-seven year old fighter from Stockton California brings a nine fight win streak into the title fight vs the British Bomber Daley who has a four fight win streak himself entering Saturday night in San Diego. Nick Diaz has one of the most impressive resumes in all of Strike Force with 24 wins and a lot of those coming vs great fighters( Frank Shamrock, K.J. Noons, Robbie Lawler, Marius Zaromskis etc.)! Nick has a ton of experience for a guy his age(27) and having that amounts of fights is invaluable. Paul Daley was a rising star in the UFC until he punched Josh Koscheck after the bell had rung, and refused to apologize after the fight, as a result Dana White kicked him out of the UFC later that night. Paul Daley has dangerous striking ability with power in both hands resembling that of MMA's version of Mike Tyson. Paul has a good take down defense, but lacks any type of ground game, that he might need vs a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt. There is always a punchers chance in a fight for a fighter of Daley's power grade! It should be a stand up brawl for awhile with both guys trying to inflict damage, after a all of the trash talk by Daley over the last couple of weeks.

    The fighter:
Nick Diaz is a under study of Cesar Gracie and a Black Belt of Brazilian Jui Jitsu plus one of the toughest guys in M.M.A today.
Nick left the UFC in 2006 possibly his best decision he ever made and he has rattled off 11wins since! There was a lose mixed in vs KJ Noons in a title shot (cut related stoppage), but he avenged the lose two fights ago via unanimous decision over KJ Noons. Nick might wanna rethink his usual style for this fight and not stand toe 2 toe with Daley and give him that punchers chance in this fight Saturday night. Nick does poses power in both his hands himself, but he more often uses precision punches in bunches type of style. Nick likes patiently picking apart his opponents with good angles and a good counter punching game. He does bring to the fight a 6'1 frame (170lbs) and considerable reach that might give Daley 5''9 a problem with reaching and over extending his punches and exposing his Jaw. If Nick decides to bring it to the ground he is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and it would be wise for Daley to stay away from the mat. Nick has a great chin and will need it in order to get closer enough to use his great grappling skills against Daley and wear him down.

    The fighter:
Paul Daley loves to talk trash and can do it with the best of them! The difference with most of the fighters that talk trash, and Paul Daley is he can back it up with a great chin, and the two cinder blocks he has as hands. The other thing Paul posses is toughness to back up the big mouth he has been given. Paul has a good enough take down defense to fend of Diaz and has only been exposed by great wrestlers such as Josh Koscheck. He will find himself in trouble Saturday night the father the fight goes no matter how good of shape he is in against Nick Diaz (who often does triathlons). His ability to make the weight requirements has been a problem for him over his last couple of fights. The fact that he took this fight on short notice and just got off a fight not more then two months(2/26/2011 win KO Yuya Sharai) ago helps the weight and shape issues. The fact that Paul has little ground game is his glaring weakness in his overall game! Nick should be able to expose that weakness if he gets him in the clinch and then the ground Saturday night. There is always a chance Nick makes a mistake and stands to long with Daley and gets sung a lullaby! Paul's chin and hands give a chance vs any man that is willing to stand and trade punches with him.

    M.M.A. BETTING PREVIEW:
Take Nick Diaz (-225) because his coach Cesar Gracie will not allow Nick to stand to long with Daley and play into Paul's one and only power as a fighter his hands. I would parley Nick Diaz and Melendez (-250) or even take Nick inside the distance at a better money line, rather then a straight up bet that would be to much juice! Nick will get Daley into the clinch and wear him down and get him to the ground eventually in the middle of the fight and win by submission.

Gilbert Melendez -265 (18-2 MMA, SF 8-1) vs Tatsuya "Crusher" Kawajiri +205 (27-6-2 MMA)
Saturday, April 9, 2011 in Valley View Casino Center in San Diego- Cali. Cable Showtime 11pm est

    The Fight:
These two fighters have meet before 5 years ago in Japan for the Pride organization, with Gilbert Melendez upsetting the then shooto champion Tatsuya Kawajiri in a 5 round controversial unanimous decision. Back then Gilbert was a up and coming fighter who was trying to make a name for himself and he did threw Kawajiri's demise. They have both have improved their fight games, since then and are both better fighters coming into Saturdays night's rematch. There is a home town advantage for Gilbert Melendez being from Southern Cali., and the fight taking place in San Diego should provide a little extra motivation to defend his strike force lightweight title in front of friends and family!

    The fighter
Tatsuya Kawajiri has revenge on his mind coming into this rematch against Melendez after being beat for his title 5years ago. Granted this guy has gone up against Japans elite for years in Pride, and was one of the best in the welterweight and lightweight divisions in his home country. He says, he is very motivated to win to put a smile on his family and friends faces after all the devastation the earth quake did to Japan's people. The earthquake did cause him to miss a whole week of training coming into this fight with Gilbert, and who knows if his mind was truly focused on the task at hand with all the chaos that was surrounding him at the time. He is also fighting for the 1st time in 35 pro fights outside of Japan and that will be hard to adjust to with fighters being creatures of habit. Kawajiri is strongest on the ground and has a pretty good stand-up game but it is not as good as Melendez's stand-up. Kawajiri won his most recent fight in December to Josh Thompson(12/31/2010,ex-champ S.F.) by unanimous decision in a three round fight in which he out wrestled him and prevailed.

    The fighter
Gilbert comes into this fight flying high knowing he already beat Kawajiri when he was a lesser fighter in Kawajiri's back yard of Japan. The fact that he is Defending his Strike Force Lightweight Title in his own backyard in front of all his family and friends should be very motivating. His stand-up game has gotten much better and his ground game is how he beat Kawajiri the 1st time around in Japan controlling the match with his wrestling. Gilbert is coming into this fight on a four fight win streak and off a win vs Shinya Aoki (who beat Tawsayu in 1round sub) via unanimous decision(5r). He also won a revenge match (his last lose) vs Josh Thompson by unanimous decision the fight before the Aoki fight. Gilbert is 2-0 in all revenge matches with opponents that he has lost too. His stand-up since getting picked apart by Josh Thompson the 1st fight has improved by leaps and bounds and he looks so much more comfortable on his feet these days. His ground game is great with wrestling being his strongest weapon and most reliable aspect of his game.

    MMA who to bet:
Take Gilbert in front of his home crowd and all his friends and family are coming out in force to see him defend his title in front of them for the 1st time! The stand-up of Gilbert's is much improved and better then Tawsuya, and he already beat him on the ground the 1st time around in Japan. The juice is to high for me at -265 ml for Melendez to go straight up but Gilbert by decision should be the way to go Saturday night and Tatsuya should be motivated to put a good show on for the people of Japan and revenge factor of losing his title 5 years ago to Gilbert! Oh ya any over/under on 2 or 3 rounds take the over cause this goes the distance. If you love your parley's put Gilbert (-265ml) and Diaz(-225) together and you should have a good chance of hitting it.
