All these new people piling in have to be a big part of driving prices up.

Especially when we see Coinbase of all places quoting prices way higher than market average.

When the casual interest dies down other factors will become more important again.

They spiked 1500+ above other exchanges for a while there yesterday.

Only mentioned it as I think it shows pressure is from new American users.

It's just the network demand so high and people keep upping the fees they use to get transfers done.

Best to put off any transfers for now if you can.

Hopefully the fees come back down to a more sensible level again soon.

What is stopping them from charging fees high as they wish?

Like housing in North Dakota during the fracking boom..........

    1 mil for a 50k house

Coinbase rates and fees are awful. They are raping and pillaging. They charge fees that they don't even disclose properly.

Which is the problem in this space. Those fools need to be regulated BUT that defeats the purpose of Crypto.

The problem is that I originally bought bitcoin because I believed in the premise. Anonymity inspired me with the cyberpunk movement. Currency/transactions without a middle man. Yes, it is the wild, wild west but I don't want governments controlling my money. In a truly free open market, consumers can decide what price they are willing to pay. In a regulated market, you have no choice. I want less regulation. Let me decide if it's worth the cost, not the government.

The Obama administration had a shitload of regulation. Many, which I think were overkill. Companies had to have lawyers on top of lawyers just to navigate the SEC. I get it, that you want to protect the consumer but you end up hurting business, which eventually hurts the consumer.

Trump has promoted American's first. American jobs for American people BUT his reduction in regulations actually hurt this cause. Companies can hire people not eligible to work in the US if they don't fear risk of getting caught.

So, should we have more regulations or less??? Not an easy answer.
