Bitcoin Cash is quickly approaching its second hard fork, the first being 6 month ago where the block size was increased to 32mB and some opcodes were added. While the previous hard fork was not contentious, the upcoming one appears to be causing some splits in the community. The Bitcoin ABC client development team announced their changes first. Many in the community did not agree with ABC’s direction, and so nChain (Craig Wright) announced their own new client called Bitcoin SV.

Independent Reserve will upgrade our systems to support the Bitcoin ABC client protocol. We will be disabling deposits and withdrawals for BCH prior to the fork (slated at block 1542300000), which should happen sometime on the 14th or 15th of November. We will announce exact timing closer to the fork.

Any BCH left in your Independent Reserve wallet will be safe during this period, but as always – if you do not withdraw your coins to a personal wallet prior to the fork, you will not end up with coins on both sides of the fork; you will only end up with coins on our supported fork.

During the fork upgrade Independent Reserve will monitor the network to determine when it has completed and when the network is stable enough for us to re-enable deposits and withdrawals. We will keep you updated during the process.

    Kind regards,
    Nicholas Fletcher
    Customer Experience Officer, Independent Reserve
This may not be a clean split since there is a hash war going on. If you want both coins, make sure to have Bitcoin Cash in an exchange or wallet that honors both coins.

Nobody knows. It could go to 1k before Christmas. And don't listen to so called experts. They predicted 50-100k before the new year.

if you had bit coin cash BCH say at an exchange do you now have same amount of BCH coins? and also some bchsv coins? or will it take weeks or months like past forks to generate those coins in the exchange

I still dont think most major exchanges ever gave customers the bitcoin Diamond fork coins that happened and still has some slight value in that new split coin.

    Real major support 2.2k
I believe BTC drops below 1k by end of year.
Hopefully no one here was a HODL and took profits a long time ago.
Dropped what I had left after the first recent drop from 6400 to 5500.

Any idea how this will effect books who pay in BTC? Honestly not sure if they hold a lot of BTC to payout or just buy as needed to pay withdraws.

Got in late November with my first purchase of LTC, skyrocketed around December 10th, took that and put it in XRP, watched that go from a dollar to 3 and cashed out early January when it was clear USDT isn't backed by the dollar, thus keeping the price propped up with imaginary money.

There will be a time to hop back in, but I don't believe this is the time just yet.

The Bakkt Futures rollout has been postponed till Jan 24, 2019.

Given the volume of interest in Bakkt and work required to get all of the pieces in place, we will now be targeting January 24, 2019 for our launch to ensure that our participants are ready to trade on Day 1.

I'm glad for this....due to tax stuff, I've been forced to not buying till the new year. Turns out to be a good thing as I would have already backed the truck up a few times..When this rolls out, everything should get a bump....

Some see the present market as a second chance, some see it as the death of Bitcoin. Kinda easy to spot who's who.....

This guy always has a good (sane) take - very much worth a look/see:

scared shitless to make a withdrawal request using BTC....by the time you get it into blockchain, then send to 3rd party and sell, your assed out hundreds of not a thousand or two, depending on withdrawal size.
Took a position with litecoin at 60, dollar averaged to 54, sold at 44. Cant believe its 34.00 now.
Also the miners cost was what like 7k/BTC or something like that for them to break even? So what they stop mining now?

Canceled a 5k withdraw myself til I see some stability.

Gonna see another drop in December with people selling to liquidate for gifts I’m guessing.

I’m rooting for a big crash myself. Reset the market. FOMO with more affordable prices will make for some quick gains.

Just be careful about trying too hard to catch the absolute tops/bottoms, most of the real opportunities will be between the 30-yard lines.
