There's still a long way to go, all of the ones I've looked into are either centralized at some critical point(s) or are only a prediction market. Even simply just getting one off of the ground is a monumental task with a ridiculously high failure rate just to get to that point. Even the small fraction that do manage to survive, many of these will likely have had to make compromises which would render it hardly different (and probably inferior) than a centralized network. Just look at some of the supposedly 'decentralized' exchanges which were hyped in recent years for their privacy, only to turn around and push KYC/AML on its users anyway.

Huge difference between testing over a weekend or so and actually being sustainable over a reasonable amount of time out in the wild.

Hey guys, back in the crypto market after the Super Bowl (I try to take some time off from sports gambling each year). I've recently invested in BNB. It's Binance Coin. Binance is the largest exchange unless you count Coinbase.

BNB is the exchange's coin. They give discounts if you trade in BNB as opposed to BTC. I can see the exchange propping this coin up if it drops too much.

I got in at $10 each and it's at $11 now. I see a drop in price some time in the future but hope to sell if it drops too much and then hope to buy back at a lower price.

Any input on this coin?

I think the more experienced recommend taking the gains when they are there for the taking. Some say sell off 20-25% when it seems "right". If it continues up, then sell off another 20-25%.

There's something to be said for hodling, though - I don't think you can go wrong if you have picked good stuff and have all the time in the world.....I know some are kicking their selves for not taking a little profit back in Dec '17.

My goal at present is to get back my buy-in - eventually - and have a bunch left over....

Yeah, that's another good thing about the coin.

I'm reading more about how Binance wants to start it's own Decentralized Exchange (DEX). Currently BNB transfers are on an Ethereum-based DEX. When you transfer BNB coins you have to have some "gas". That "gas" is ETH coin so you have to buy some ETH coin to transfer coins on the ETH DEX.

On Binance's DEX, BNB coin would be used for transfers so that would drive the price up once that DEX starts. In other words they want to create another DEX that charges BNB to transfer coins. Binance's CEO says that there are about 8 projects that already want to use Binance's DEX. Supposedly there are faster transfer times for Beinance's DEX than for ETH's DEX. Supposedly they can also handle larger transactions.

I was going to buy some more BNB on Monday but got on a call at work so I couldn't go to the bank. I decided to buy some Tuesday. That's the day the Binance CEO had an AMA and the price jumped before I could buy. I bought some more anyway at just under $15/coin so I'm good with my BNB purchases for now.

Thanks for reminding me of what I forgot to post earlier. That is that most of the Top 30 coins have been following BTC almost to a T. When the price of BTC goes down a little all the rest seem to follow. Same thing when it shoots up.

That is with the exception of BNB. The price of that coin is not tracking BTC. It's just been going up steadily since the beginning of the year.

Binance Coin (BNB), the crypto asset that can be exchanged for transaction fees on the Binance exchange, is up more than 140 percent year to date and is now deviating from bitcoin’s price trend – a feat not commonly observed in the nascent crypto markets.

While the reasons that most cryptocurrencies are highly correlated to bitcoin are not definitive, studies have shown this dependency on bitcoin’s trend has only grown stronger with time. Yet, BNB is proving different.

BNB, currently ranked eighth as per CoinMarketCap, in fact, is the only cryptocurrency out of the top 10 to post a yearly gain against the dollar. The next closest performer, Tron’s TRX token, is printing a -44 percent annual loss.

I would like to add a little bit of how I trade to this discussion. I previously said I added another purchase of BNB on Tuesday. The price went up shortly after but today it started to creep down and eventually went below the price I paid for it on Tuesday.

I didn't panic and sell. I saw that there was previous support on 3/5 and 3/6 at just under the 0.0035000 level so I decided to set that as my sell point. I was willing to lose a little on my Tuesday purchase at that point and still get much more profit from my first purchase at just under 0.0027000 on 2/28 and would then ride it out from there.

It never got down to that 0.0035000 level so I continued to hodl. I'm glad I did as it has not gone up a good bit since then. I had a hunch that there might be some artificial support from the Binance team to buy when the price got a little lower. Who knows who is really buying at this point. I'm just glad I held on.

There's another coin I kind of like that's been going up gradually since the beginning of the year. It's ADX. I used my $150 in bitcoin that I traded in here at SBR to buy some of that. It's gone up 35% in 2 months. Nothing outrageous but it just seems to be reliable.

I'm thinking about maybe taking profits by selling some of my BNB because it looks like it may go down. If I do sell that coin I'll put it into ADX temporarily to see if that continues to climb. I figure it's best to put it in a coin that has the potential to rise rather than just keeping my funds in BTC.

I don't want to clutter up this thread with my every trade but I sold my BNB and will set a lower point to buy back when it gets to that point. I plan to stay in this coin for a long time.

I hope it goes down a lot like it did a few months back and a few months prior to that. I will buy in at a lower point if it does.

I got a big bag of Stellar. I'm OK with it. You know you can stake your Stellar, right? Every Monday I get 7.5 XLM added to my account. They call it "inflation" - the good kind. Staking with "Lumenaut". Not much but eh, it's the thought that counts. Search details if you're interested. I see Stellar as quiet and less controversial than XRP. It was founded by an ex-Ripple guy. They got IBM in their corner so that's a pretty good partner. When the market picks up again, it should be right there with all the others. It had a good day today, BTW....

Yeah, I'm staying away. KYC (know your customer) isn't really in the spirit of crypto, IMHO. I've had several opportunities to increase this 'n that but when they go asking for your personal data, I stay away... One shouldn't give out their personal information unless it is absolutely necessary (again, IMHO)...

I've been watching Ravencoin (RVN) for the past couple weeks. It's been getting some good gains. Whenever I see that however I think the crash isn't far behind.

Yes, there have been corrections but it still keeps chugging upward. I bought a little at 1035 while I'm waiting for the breakout of BNB since I sold that on the downward slide.

I feel like much of it would still get held anyway at these prices now that we've seen what's possible, but it will be interesting to see what happens to alts once that btc gets freed up for use. Traders gonna keep on trading...also more and more halving hype is coming in the months leading up to it.

I guess you aren't using a wallet that lets you add fees to speed things up?
