    Directbet is closed?

I just tried to make a live bet on Directbet and the message says they are closed. Anyone know what happened here? Also, I have two small outstanding bets. I emailed to see if they plan on paying them.

Thanks. I see it says outstanding bets will be honored. My question is: when. I have two that have been pending for a while now. I did email. we'll see what they say.

When you say pending do you mean already decided and waiting to be graded?

    If so, how long?

Yeah, "pending" isn't the best word. I have two bets that have won that have not been paid. One was a regular live soccer bet that ended on 5/17. I'm getting the "Bet won/Settlement in progress" message there. The other was a season long future bet in the EPL that officially won as of Sunday when the season ended, although it really won a couple of weeks earlier. That one just shows the bet was confirmed.

If you don't get a response soon I'd shoot in an SBR Sportsbook Complaint form and see if a dispute analyst can get a response for you.

Thanks. I will give them a day or two to respond since I'm sure they are getting a bunch of emails. If I haven't heard anything or been paid, I'll fill out the form.

Here is an update. The good news is that Directbet customer service is responding by email. I have two bets that won. One was a live bet on a single game that won. This is what they said in response to that one. I don't know enough about bitcoin to evaluate whether this is legitimate or bullshit.

    https://directbet.eu/BetStatus.cshtm...Dw7ZB9pCJfuiFv
won but the bet transfer failed to confirm by the Bitcoin network because it
was double spent, as explained in more details in our previous e-mail.

It's not your fault. You need to contact your wallet provider and ask them
why they double spent this transfer instead of letting it confirm.

Once they double spent it, the bet was canceled because we did not receive
any wager for it and your wallet was not charged for it.

You can see here that your bet address is empty, which means no coins were
delivered to it and you were not charged / risked anything :

As for the other bet, an EPL future that won, they didn't address it in the last email so I emailed them back and provided the link to the confirmed bet. We'll see what they say about that.

I still don't understand how double spending works or how it is possible...I did once get a message in my wallet of a payment that I received was possibly a double spend but it conformed and all was well..I had a few times where a transaction to directbet dint process correctly by my wallet and every time the bet amount winner or loser was credited back to my wallet like they said the transaction disappeared but the wagered amount I sent appeared back in my wallet in 3 days

I don't really understand that one either. I'm going to let it go for now. The other future bet is a larger bet and given the increase in value of BTC, it's a larger payoff than I expected. I've asked about that one. Waiting to hear back.

That was one of the big problems with DirectBet.

Double spends on this page may be unintentional. In the event that a double spend is maliciously crafted being listed on this page is no indication that it was successful or any merchant or user lost money as a result.

You can see in your wallet if the funds got there or were returned to you.

I know. They weren't. Directbet says I need to take that up with Blockchain.

I'm letting that go for now and have asked them about the other, larger bet that hasn't been paid. I emailed them this morning about it. No response yet. If I don't have a response by tomorrow morning when i get to work, I'll send another email and fill out that complaint form you linked. See what that does.

They said you need to ask Blockchain why the double spend, not where your money is. Directbet claim you have it back.

    Is that not correct?

Post #8 is all they said. Honestly, I'm not sure what the penetrate they are talking about, but i do know Blockchain shows a payment and never shows a refund. Also, Directbet showed the bet was confirmed and then won and then settlement in progress. I copied and pasted what I thought was the details of the payment from my Blockchain account and they said that was for a different bet which i don't think is true.

So, that all sounds like bullshit, but I really don't know enough about BTC to argue. Plus, my other bet is larger (particularly because of the increase in value of BTC since I made the bet) so that one is a priority. They ignored it in my original email and then haven't responded to my email from this morning which just focused on that bet.

Yeah post #8 says they dont have your bitcoin and suggests they never did.

If the bet still shows up in your nitro directbet record you should be able to see the time it was struck and match that to the time in your blockchain wallet to see if they are wrong about the transaction being the one you think it is.

But probably is best to just focus on the other bet first and sort that out to start with, as you say.

Yeah, I still have hope for the other bet. I'll report back tomorrow morning after checking my email. I get the feeling they are going to screw me, but we'll see.

FYI when transactions have issues from the wallet they will not show up as a credit...the transaction just disappears and the funds pop back up into the account like the transaction never happened...at least thats my experience

The problem isn't with blockchain.info. If you post the tickets, we can see exactly what happened.

I looked up the first one and it was rejected for an attempted double spend. Can you post the second ticket?

Yup this is exactly why they shut down. Confirmations were taking forever with standard transactions and people knew this. There were days you could easily send a dollar fee with your bet, get the bet confirmed, watch the entire match (whilst the transaction actually hadn't confirmed yet on blockchain), then if your match lost, they can re broadcast same transaction to a different address, put a 5 dollar fee on it and get it back safely in the next block. Or if you won, you just let it confirm in it's time, and get paid out your bet and the winnings.

With that time lag between the two the model doesn't work. A) Wait for blockchain confirmation - no bettor ever is just going to take the odds at whatever they are at some random time in the future, so sportsbook useless at this point, or B) Confirm bet right away, and get ripped off by people, which is what was happening or C) Require account, verification process, and dont allow anonymous betting (sounds like a lot of headaches). That just won't fly in bitcoin world. So they had to choose D) Shut down

No inside info but think Pharoah is close to the truth.

Poor software design that was too easy to angle shoot and likely not making enough profit on the betting to justify rebuilding it better.

My action with them decreased greatly due to the high btc price and fees....there wallet was a good idea but would take forever for transactions winnings to confirm so not a practical solution..I liked the site too bad

Well, I got an email this morning responding to my question about the other, larger bet. They asked me to confirm the address to which I wanted the payment to be sent. I responded about half an hour ago and the second bet was paid quickly. Nice little payout since the bet was made back in August.

Anyway, I think I'm going to leave the first bet alone. It doesn't sound like i;m going to win that argument.

Yeah, I guess I can't complain too much. I had to harass them to pay my bet which won a little while ago but at least they respond fairly quickly by email and didn't just shut down and screw everyone over. AS for the other bet, maybe it's bullshit, maybe it isn't. I'm not going to worry about it.

From here, I'll use Fairlay for BTC, as I have been, and 5dimes and Betdsi for my regular accounts.

Fairlay is fine so far but I'll be looking for another BTC book with a good live soccer selection.

Also, I'm going to look into using some of these BTC gains to buy Ether, but that's another discussion altogether.

I jumped ship on BTC yesterday. I have made a lot of money with it over the last 6 weeks. I don't want to get caught holding the bag when the bottom falls out.

Still holding, only about .5 though

I'm really flying blind with these things as investments. I bought BTC when it was around 1 BTC = $350 just to use it to gamble at places that were otherwise off limits. I got lucky with the explosion in value. However, it does make sense that it can't keep going up at this pace. But, who knows? Ether sounds interesting. I might throw some money into that and see what happens.

None of this is responsible investing. I have close to no idea what I'm doing. I'd never do it with large amounts. But, I consider gambling and BTC money recreational money. However, with BTC's value these days, it's getting to be real money.
