Bitcoin is becoming a joke. As soon as there is a good replacement it will die. No one is going to continue to wait days for something that's supposed to be instant

Advice for all: stoping using blockchain wallet

Get Mycelium wallet and click "priority" when you send, they calculate the necessary fee to get confirmed in next block

The bitcoin seems to be flying around the network tonight.

Think Blockchain increased their automatic fee up to about $1.50.

Coinbase even moved pretty fast. Hope this isn't an aberration.

So, are we thinking this is a "crappy fees from Blockchain.info's wallet" problem or a problem on the sportsbooks' side? I've seen people say they've had trouble depositing to 5d. Has anyone had trouble depositing to any other book? Has anyone had withdrawals delayed (where, presumably the books would add a decent fee to speed the transaction up)?

PS: Anyone using a Blockchain.info wallet (or any other wallet that allows you to choose your own fees), you should definitely click "Advanced" on the withdrawal form, then triple Blockchain's recommended fees. That will speed up confirmations, but it still won't help us if the problem's on the sportsbooks' end (he said, remembering Bitfinex's recent massive slowdowns when its bank in Taiwan suddenly refused to continue working w/ them).

It shouldnt be like this. That fee is way too much for a confirmation not to mention 3 hours is a joke for something that is supposed to be instant

So this is what to expect with using Blockchain/ Conibase. I sent $150 from betanysports to coinbase and it only took 10 minutes. I withdrew $350 to blockchain it tooks minutes. Then sent it to coinbase its been 2 days and still pending. What is my next step?

It's neither of those things. Not the Wallet's fault and neither is it any books fault. All are equally affected.

It's the backend bitcoin programming that needs to be updated.

Not sure what you are trying to say there but it doesn't make much sense.

If you are waiting for a bank deposit to land in your Coinbase account, it takes 5 business days.

    Yes.

It's a network restriction built into the software.

The miners need to vote a 75% majority on one of the suggested fixes and it's just not happening.

Well, it IS the wallet's fallet if, like Blockchain.info, they claim to have a sophisticated algorithm that chooses ideal fees based on current congestion for quick confirmation, but then actually assigns outdated fees that cause the user massive delays (plus, headaches!)

Agreed, the ceiling we're bumping up against is a 1 mb maximum per bitcoin block. But I actually think the required vote to enact SegWit, one of two currently proposed solutions, is a 95% signalling from all blocks over a 2 week period -- basically, a 'never gonna happen' scenario: http://segwit.co/

The only alternative to SegWit is a hard fork to Bitcoin Unlimited, which would solve the scaling problem forever. Now, I recognize my view's in the minority, but I say let's do it. Yes, the value of our BTC will probably take a short term hit, but Bitcoin's shown over and over its ability to come back strong from short term price drops. Besides, Ethereum hard forked last summer, and look at its combined (ETH and ETC) value today.

Hard forking is like pulling a tooth: one painful yank, then a lifetime of bliss. Sign me up.

I actually did a Bitcoin deposit to Nitro this morning that cleared in half an hour, but I sent fees that would've been considered highway robbery just a month ago, over a thousand satoshis per byte.

My guess is the special delay to 5dimes is a problem on their end, not just inadequate fees from wallets or blockchain congestion.

They don't want to credit people then because the price is over 2000. They'll just wait until the price goes down then conveniently transactions will be pushed through

Took about 20 min today from Blockchain to Heritage. Haven't had one problem moving money from blockchain to anywhere. Make sure to check https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ before each send so the money moves as fast as I want it to.

    Either have I.

It appears most transactions still go through as usual.
