One thing I need to hear on Bitcoin. We need the "# of merchants who accept Bitcoin" to continue to rise. Not sure I'm seeing that right now.

i'm probably the only CPA that accepts bitcoin

merchants aren't accepting it because of the following...

1) not enough demand for it
2) confirmations take too long
3) too time consuming
3) too volatile, nobody wants to lose 10% on a sale with a 5% profit margin because the price of bitcoin went against them

Yeah, that's the "Retail Problem." Almost everywhere already allows you to buy gift cards with BTC: https://www.gyft.com/buy-gift-cards/

But let's face it, gift cards are a pain in the ass. If BTC's going to replace c_redit cards, it has to be useable at cash registers. Unfortunately, that's a problem. Point of Sale adoption is virtually non existent because merchants have a valid complaint: to accept BTC payments they either have to force the customer to wait there 15 minutes for a confirmation, or else risk getting cheated by accepting payment on zero confirmations. That's unworkable.

Fortunately, there's lots of bright crypto minds working on potential fixes. Most involve some kind of retailers-only "confirmation superhighway" that could provide a confirmation almost instantly.

The first attempted fix is called the Lightning Network. It's already approved and should go hot sometime soon (within the next month?), so stay tuned.

By extending their shut down to October 31st, that also gives them time to possibly "change their mind" and let them continue to operate as a fiat exchange with licensing and new regulations.

I have funds at Nitrogen and books using USD. When BTC drops I'm unhappy at Nitrogen because I have to use more BTC to make my normal wagers. If BTC goes up, I'm happy. At the USD books, I'm happy when BTC goes up and I'm adding funds, but unhappy if it goes down. If I'm withdrawing I'm happy when BTC drops and unhappy when it goes up. Here is a chart.

1. If you got in at $2,500 or $3,000 you probably don't have a reason to worry. You can allow it to go up and down until your "warning sell light" reaches.

2. I just like the 4k level. That's pretty solid. But in my eyes hasn't stayed at a positive level for long.

3. That 3k drop.... and then reached 4k again... was amazing. But how many times do you expect it to gain again? What is the ultimate cause of it?

I don't think it will crash. I think it's here to stay... but... I think the drop off could go as low as 2k. I don't know when.... no one knows.

But I don't think it will ever reach 5k again. Unless there's some serious retailers who start using this as a payment method. Not underground stuff... talking like BestBuy.... HP... IBM etc

I just don't have a good vibe about it anymore.

I had a bad vibe when it was $300 and I sold enough that I would be retiring right now. Instead I'll likely be grinding for another 25 years.

It's so hard to look at Bitcoin logically. Easy to have positive or negative opinions and go with them.

My positive thought is that even without china it has found a way to stay solid. I think it'll go through the roof at some point. When? I don't know, but it could easily be $5k by the end of the year and much higher if some legitimate companies start taking it as payment.

Kind of hard for "everyone" to be a millionaire when there are only 16.5 million bitcoins and 7.5 billion people. That means there are only enough BTC's for 1 out of every 454 people to own one, which is less than the current rate of millionaires in the world
