There was a post earlier in this thread about how you couldn't use an exchange to fund your Bitpay card.
I told everyone I was going to try it...
It worked.
Just funded the Bitpay card using Bitcoin from Gemini.com
I don't quite understand what all the confusion was about earlier? It doesn't matter what wallet or exchange you use.... it clearly works.

Just did it twice today. Gemini even pays for the fees. (30 free transactions a month)
So that means you can sell & send money from Gemini back to Bitpay card directly ?

There was a post earlier about how someone couldn't fund their Bitpay card for whatever reason? Had to be a specific wallet etc.
I'm just confirming this isn't true.
You keep it in Bitcoin.... and from Gemini just send to Bitpay. It's just like you typing in an address and sending from your wallet. The only advantage is... Gemini will pay the bitcoin networking fee for you 100%.
For example... to pay Bitpay you need a set amount correct? So you couldn't go from sportsbook to Bitpay because when paying a Bitpay invoice you must be 100% accurate.
Now... you could go from Sportsbook to Gemini.... and Gemini to Bitpay.. with Zero fees. (Because Gemini will cover the networking fees for you as a courtesy.) I don't know how long it will last? But remember... they are an exchange... and they could ban you.... so use wisely.
When sending to Gemini Are you going direct from book to Gemini or using middle man? I’ve always just done Gemini to Bank ach for withdrawls so this is excellent news!
Did it both ways.
1. Book To Gemini.
2. Then log into Bitpay and get the invoice ready and amount.
3. Go to Withdrawal BTC area at Gemini and click it.
4. Type in the exact amount that Bitpay wants you to send.
5. I think Optional stated this up above or in another thread... about how Bitpay uses a protocol forcing you to Open In A Wallet? I have Electrum... let it open... and then copy Bitpay's Receiving Address and PASTE IT at Gemini. (Just cancel the wallet that it opened to begin with after you're done.)
You're good to go.
I also used my Electrum wallet directly to Gemini. Reason being.... I think Bitcoin is dead for now... I didn't want to mess around.... so I sent all my BTC to Gemini. I could either send to other books.... or to Bitpay.... or sell off... and Gemini pays for all the Bitcoin Networking fees. (You're allowed 30 free each calendar month.)
This still seems too good to be true.
I hope a few people have seen you posting about this. I should mention it more often too when people ask about exchanges. it's a huge benefit.
You do not have to use their payment protocol wallets; can just use a decoder somebody posted here. It spits out the regular bitcoin address that you are used to when you send to Bitpay card. Used it with my blockchain wallet. Unfortunately no way to get around their ridiculous network fee.
The craziness yesterday because everyone was selling off.... networking fees to get confirmed in under 30 minutes were around $30-$35
Gemini always pays for the FIRST BLOCK for all of their customers. I sent 2 transactions yesterday... and Gemini paid $65.00 for both.
I'm surprised Gemini hasn't stopped this yet? They have to be losing their a$$? But, you have to give them credit... they want your business at the exchange.

I believe they do. But they don't delay much time.... it's posted on the network within 30 seconds. It still confirms ONCE in the FIRST BLOCK no matter what. For additional confirmations... might take 10-15 more minutes.

So I wonder how we can do that...lets say I want to send funds to a few different books. Can I batch the transactions and How if yes?
With Electrum wallet it's a simple matter of adding extra lines to the payment address box. Or importing a spreadsheet file if there are a lot.

Cool tyvm....ill try... i have it on my windows desktop..i cant seem to figure out how to load on my ipad though electrum...link i find have zip files that wont open...any ideas
i did a load direct from the waves platform earlier, everything went thru in 5 minutes.. I think the one problem that could occur by not using a protocol wallet/address is if you over send and they have to issue a refund.. if you send from an exchange direct, im not quite sure that your withdrawl sending address is the same as a deposit address.. if they were to issue a refund, who knows where it ends up, i doubt you'd be able to access it
Blockchain wallet you use to be able to. They took it out of the programming about a year ago. It was a nice feature. I emailed customer support asking them why... and they responded with... "Managements decision".
Bump for personal reasons. I'd like to think the posters in here that have created a pipeline for withdraws regarding Bitpay. Been following this thread since mid-2016 when I was betting pro.

Did bitpay get rid of the option to copy the address just now? Was using the decoder to bypass the wallet but now the option to copy is gone.
You could just take 1 minute to download a compatible wallet and stop trying to get around their system!
Have a wallet.. but it was working and it took away an unnecessary fee ...but thanks for the input!

Yes. A network fee plus miner/transaction fees. They've been fairly low since late January.
There is no actual fee from Bitpay for loading, but what is usually more important when dealing with any business that does the exchanging for you is what reference exchange rate they use and if they add any sort of premium on to that.
I can only go off what US users post as I am a foreigner, but over the 25 pages of this thread almost no one has complained about the exchange rate or amount they end up credited with.
there is a tiny fee right now on top of miners fees...it was significant back when network was congested but back down now to 0.000014 BTC Now

bitcoin miner fees are beginning to climb again. I saw $2 suggested fee on one of my wallets. if the bitcoin cash team is responsible for this surge then it means they will pump bitcoin cash at the same time. those of us that use bitcoin cash already will never see fees past $1 ever. strap in folks.
I paid 67 cents for a "priority" send by blockchain wallets reckoning yesterday. Took about 10 mins for confirmation.
Anyone else experiencing delays in your BitPay card having the money available on it?
Usually is available within minutes when you transfer from the bitpay wallet.....
Not sure why but network miners fees have went up significantly over the last 24 hours...that has brought a longer confirmation times of lower fee transactions..

It seems to be going up and down lately with fees. All day today blockchain was showing 20000 unconfirmed. I waited 18 hours for a transaction to go through. Right now 1000 unconfirmed just had a transaction go through with a low fee in 5 minutes. This is what sucks about bitcoin. They can't seem to make up their mind how much a transaction should cost. It's like playing the dam lottery in how long you want to wait and what you have to pay.
