Bitcoin getting hammered today...seen a low of 444.

Wondering if it is on the news that Coinbase might soon be getting into Ether?

Don't make the same mistake I did using jaxx. If you have ether in poloniex you can just purchase through them or you can create a mist wallet and purchase Dao that way. But I think Dao is no longer 100 to 1. Still worth it. I'm sitting with 5000 Dao tokens and 100 ethers atm. I really wish I bought some more when ether was $7 or even at $10.

Still a lot of love for ETH

    MARKETS REPORTER

Ethereum, the world’s second-most valuable cryptocurrency, has seen its value skyrocket as investors and developers have sought different ways to use the technology introduced by bitcoin. But is it ready for the big time?
That’s what some are asking with its market capitalization briefly crossing $1.1 billion — up from $72 million at the beginning of 2016 — in mid-March. The price of a single ether token has surged from around $1 at the beginning of the year to more than $14 in just months.

Ethereum counts some of the world’s largest technology companies as believers, and regulators recently cleared the way for buyers in New York state to purchase tokens through a major cryptocurrency exchange. A March New York Times profile quoted one of Ethereum’s creators as calling the platform the “crystallization” of the vision bitcoin put forward.

Bitcoin got bashed! I'm hoping this is just a correction...

Any opinion on the idea that once it halves, if there is not a big jump, many speculators will dump it, which will cause a huge sell-off?

When is this halving talking place?

I am about to try out my first exchange...currently just have bitcoin sitting in blockchain...

Question: If I don't want to be exposed to bitcoin movements, say I think it may drop in the short term...can I transfer my bitcoin to an exchange, and convert it to USD and wait to but at a dip? Similar to how you can do at Circle/Coinbase?

It's similar but you'll have to make actual trades. It will show buy and sell prices and the dollar amount available at each price. Circle/Coinbase convert the entire amount automatically if you choose to hold money in USD.

I'm scooping up LSK. You can buy it at Poloniex and YoBit. It wouldn't be a surprise if it continued the slide but I'm giving it a try and crossing fingers.

The DAO creation period ends 5/28. Keep a watch on ETH in case there's a sell off and the price starts dropping.

I didn't see it coming but in retrospect my guess would be the weakening of the Yuan is causing China to scoop up BTC. There's been a huge spike in trading volume of BTC.

i've learned so much about cryptocurrencies in the last two weeks.

one major thing i've learned is don't think long term with cryptos unless you're holding btc.

ether is so manipulated, it's not even funny. but the graphs do tell you when to get out and luckily for me, i got out when ether began to get dumped at 0.029. at one point i had 400 ethers and it was stressful to watch it climb slowly just to be dumped by the whales in matter of minutes. this cycle is so tiresome. i wouldn't touch ether at the moment. we'll see how dao release goes tomorrow.

picked up 1000 lisk at 0.00050000. can't believe some people bought lisk at 0.00300000.

overall i'm glad i converted mostly to btc.

    Question on exchanges...

In your opinion, are they safe to hold a good size of bitcoin/USD in?

I have been acquiring bitcoin from payouts and its been sitting in blockchain...but with this MASSIVE run up, Bitfinex is constantly quoting much higher than most of the other outlets, so I'm thinking of opening up an account there, transferring my bitcoin and selling/converting some to USD...
