Benger played like a huge wimp and out 7th. Liking my Nguyen position since he's the only one who seems to be trying to win this thing. A table full of passive weak tights otherwise.

HAND #97 - KENNY HALLAERT ELIMINATED IN 6TH PLACE ($1,464,258)

Sunday, October 30, 2016 11:11 PM PST (about 11 hours and 24 minutes ago)

Kenny Hallaert (pictured) raises to 2,300,000 from under the gun and Qui Nguyen three-bet to 5,700,000 from the cutoff. Action folds back to Hallaert, who moves all in for 35,625,000 and Nguyen snap-calls.
Hallaert shows Ac Qc and is in terrible shape against Nguyen's As Ah .
"This is not a good spot for Kenny," says Jack Effel over the microphone to the crowd.
The flop is Q 5 4 and Hallaert picks up some outs after flopping top pair. The 7h comes on the turn and their respective rails get louder in anticipation of the river.
Nguyen's rail is yelling for a deuce to give the pot to Nguyen. The 4d comes on the river and Nguyen drags a big pot to eliminate Hallaert in sixth place.
Nguyen's rail goes crazy as he moves over the 100 million chip mark and takes a massive chip lead over the field. Hallaert takes home $1,464,258 for his deep run.
    Qui Nguyen - 128,625,000 (129 bb)
Kenny Hallaert - Eliminated in 6th Place ($1,464,258)

QUI NGUYEN CARRIES BIG CHIP LEAD INTO LAST DAY OF FINAL TABLE

Monday, October 31, 2016 8:43 PM PST (about 18 minutes ago)

The last three players (L to R): Qui Nguyen, Cliff Josephy, Gordon Vayo
On the second day of the 2016 WSOP Main Event final table, Qui Nguyen continued the dominating performance he started yesterday. With one day remaining, Nguyen leads the three remaining players with 197,600,000 in chips. His closest competitor is Gordon Vayo with 89,000,000, and Cliff Josephy brings up the rear with 50,000,000.
The day actually got off to a rough start for Nguyen. On the fourth hand of the day, he doubled up Michael Ruane, who started today with the shortest stack. Just three hands later, he lost the chip lead when Gordon Vayo and Vojtech Ruzicka got involved in a huge all-in confrontation. Vayo came out on top, and he doubled up to take over the chip lead. Ruzicka was left severely short-stacked. The following hand, Ruzicka became the first elimination of the day. He finished in fifth place for $1,935,288.
A little less than an hour after Ruzicka's elimination, Qui Nguyen retook the chip lead for good in a hand against Gordon Vayo. Just a few hands later, Ruane took a big hit to his stack in a hand against Josephy. From then on, he mostly trended down, and soon became the fourth-place finisher ($2,576,003).
Nguyen, Vayo, and Josephy continued to play for about half an hour. During that time, Nguyen extended his chip lead, and will return for the final day with more than twice Gordon Vayo's stack.
Play will resume at roughly 5:00 p.m. local time. There is 58:29 remaining on the clock in level 39 (blinds at 600,000/1,200,000 with an ante of 200,000).

Here is the chip progression through two days at the final table:

QUI NGUYEN WINS 2016 MAIN EVENT!

1 November 2016 (Las Vegas) – At the end of a grueling eight-hour heads up match, Qui Nguyen has written his name into poker's history books. Nguyen won the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event late Tuesday night, earning his first WSOP bracelet and $8,005,310 for his victory. And for the next year, he will be poker's reigning world champion.

It wasn't an easy path to the winner's circle for Nguyen. He held the chip lead for much of the final day of competition, but his heads-up opponent, Gordon Vayo, refused to make it easy for him. They fought a marathon battle, but Nguyen slowly built his chip lead, and eventually he sealed the victory in a decisive hand. Vayo earned $4,661,228 for his runner-up finish.

Nguyen in many ways seems an unlikely champion. He lacked the experience of some of his competitors at the final table, most notably Josephy, who already has two WSOP bracelets and numerous other accomplishments. Nguyen, in contrast, had only one previous WSOP cash, and his biggest live tournament cash prior to this tournament was for $9,029. His victory today earned him near 900 times that amount.

The 2016 WSOP Main Event began back in July with 6,737 entrants, each of whom put up a $10,000 buy-in for a total prize pool of $63,340,268.The top 1,011 made the money, with 1,011th place earning $15,000. After playing for seven days, the field had been whittled down to nine players – the 2016 November Nine. The tournament was paused for about three months, and the final table officially began Sunday in the Penn and Teller Theater at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, televised live on ESPN.
