    Sorry, SBR, trivia question was POORLY worded and you owe me a freebie!

    For shame, SBR! Resorting to semantics trickery now?

    I don't have it in front of me, but it was something like:

    "In football, a team gets how many downs to score, [something I forget], or else punt the ball?"

    - something dumb
    - something dumb
    - 3
    - 4

    The way the question was worded (which again, I can't view it any more, it may not have been the above but it was something like that), the answer CANNOT be 4. You have THREE downs to score if you want to STILL be able to punt. If you try and score on Fourth down and fail, you TURN IT OVER, so you have THREE chances if punting is included as a possible outcome. So if you're including punt as a possible outcome in that question, than the answer is THREE, you'd have only THREE opportunities to score before punting.

    What say you? I think a free shot is in order for this ambiguity/trickery, good people of SBR.

    Yes in most cases teams do punt the ball to avoid the turnover, but they can still go for a score, if they choose to.

    Yeah, it's just not a good question. It needed to be worded perfectly and it wasn't. Obviously every sports fan on earth knows that there are Four downs in a football series, so I was SURE they were being tricksy. Which in the end they WERE being tricksy, it was the old double-switch/ shell game maneuver!

    Can't remember anymore, my friend. I'm old and it's fading as the minutes pass... I need SBR to put it in here, but I guess they prob wouldn't do that. I'm just hoping they review it and see how it could be misread and hit me with an extra try!

    I don't mind going out, but I don't like going out on semantics/ambiguity. Of course I know how many downs there are! I live for my SBR trivia twice a week.

    Not about the "money," boys, obviously... just my competitive spirit... Love the trivia 2x a week and just didn't like getting bounced on some weird semantics.     Neither, it was the 60-pt. if it was the 10-pt I wouldn't have been looking for the "trick." But since it was the second question I was giving it more credit for being more of a trick question
