Going SBR Pro is only worth it if you are good at Poker

I gave up online poker a long time ago. Too much of a time buster. Not sure if I will renew my pro status.

Much easier to exploit others in a game of poker that it is to beat the books. Not many guys can win at sports betting so not many guys are going to make much on points.

Can't you just buy pro membership with your points or is that just for renewals.

Just saying I bought my original membership through the good old days of sportsbook deposit. To make up a significant amount past the $200 donation means I would have to place very well in contest be +ev on my sportsbets and do fairly well on trivia. I just don't think it is worth it without poker.

not really trying to give my opinion on the matter... BUT you get 12 pts/day just for logging in, which is about(depending on a leap year) 4380pt/year...that can buy you more than $200 in gift cards....so being pro is actually +ev if you have the time to log in...

EDIT: Well i just looked at the store for the first time in a while, looks like its only +ev if you get pizza e-gift cards...

Yes you are right it is only +ev if you get the pizza. Being pro used to be the best thing since sliced bread but nothing lasts forever.

I bet 100 to 200 a game real money. Not a ton, I think this is about normal.
win a few games, And thats 300-500. Why pay 200 to try to win pizzas? Or even if you get 30k points. Wouldn't you rather make 300-500 in a day or two, or battle all year for pizza and gift cards? I don't get it unless its just for entertainment

And not saying this is you but you do realize that most people that go around constantly touting that they bet real money generally dont or they bet substantially less than they claim.

Again, not saying this is you but is something to think about

If you itemize your 1040 and are in the highest tax bracket the $200 donation is more like $124. Worth it.

When I made the posts, I was referencing certain players, that were acting like non pro means you have no money. And that's not the case at all And if I was going to brag, I'd say I bet 500 a game, lol.

Anyways I was mocking the posters who deserved it, not the good ones as yourself.

If you're non pro the $200 is worth it for most, if you have any clue how to generate pts. For current pro renewal which costs 3,000 pts, it's a no brainer & absolutely worth it. Since logging in every day will net you 4,380 pts, not counting all the pts you will earn from: poker, sportsbook, trivia, contests, loan interest, etc.

Going pro is only worth it if you'd be doing everything for entertainment value anyways. Making a profit over the course of the year is meaningless without considering the time it takes you to do so. If you enjoy playing the points game and get entertainment value above and beyond the monetary value, than go for it... but it's certainly not a no-brainer if your time is worth anything at all.

As for poker, I'm not aware of many SBR poker players who have a win rate that's higher than minimum wage.

That's true, you obviously need to enjoy the time it takes to do it. To me it's a no brainer as I'm: retired, have time, and from reasons stated above.

your counter argument is hey look at me i bet real money and PROs only bet points, Somehow overlooking that someone can do BOTH. I doubt many PRO's solely bet points but you keep presenting that you have to bet either or.

OK so if you have the 3000 points to renew it is definitely worth it. But $200 donation without playing any poker is not worth it.

    .
There you have it. You don't spend money on a video game or buy a ticket to a concert looking to make money out of it. It's entertainment. You can play some poker, place some bets, play a little slots, all legally and all without having to worry about losing real money and maybe even get something out of it. It's entertainment. I think there is more "value" in the poker so if you are good at that, then you maximize the value of being pro. Personally I rarely play because the time I can play I'd rather do it playing for cash, and the contest structure and length here frustrates me...but to each their own. I still may take a loan out an pay it off for the rest of the year to renew...not like I couldn't use a few gift cards.

That makes sense to me. I guess it is not worth $200 for the entertainment value of being pro for me.
