Picker, I am not in the least referring to you. I don't want to make their already miserable lives anymore miserable so I won't mention names, but its just shocking the stuff I've read in my relatively short time here. Just makes me wonder if it really is that hard to balance gambling and life (it really shouldn't be). Or if just the rejects end up here.

Don't get me wrong, theres a ton of quality guys here and that's why I post a bajillion times everyday.

We did have 4 horses at the time. I have said this many times, but the truth doesnt really make a good story.

And people in forums NEED a good story to make up for something missing in their own life. The horses were left in the care of another owner who had over 75 horses to care for. KEEP IN MIND that this was a 100 year storm! No one even thought that it was going to hit our area when we evacuated. Well the barn collapsed under the 145 MPH winds. It was probably a tornado spawned from the hurricane.

Again, I have said this same story MANY TIMES, but the truth isnt interesting enough for people on the internet

    tto,

Have you noticed that in 5 years I have about the same about of posts as you do in 5 months??

I am one of the FEW POSTERS here who doesnt believe in mushes or jinxes! Hell everyone has to blame me for their losses. Now IFFFF I were at the stadium, then MAYBE I could play a role in affecting the outcome. But how can posters actually believe in curses, jinxes or mushes???? That makes absolutely no sense

ON second thought, I have made more posts in the past month than in the past 2 years, but I really dont post that often. I have been a member or therx for over 14 years and only have around 15,000 posts. I have been a member since the first day that EOG started and I only have 14000 posts in 8 years

Does 32 make me middle aged? I don't live with my parents but I do have a basement. I live there occasionally when my wife is mad at me or my 2 year old is driving me insane.

Gamblind/SBR has probably not made me insane but has definitely cost me a few IQ points over the years.

Naa DS, wouldn't put you in the middle aged category.......... yet

Most of the guys in this section of the forum seem significantly more well-adjusted than the average poster. Don't worry, all you guys in here are cool in my book (some more than others).

Sort of interesting to see the differing levels of defensiveness from everyone that responded.

I don't want to stop betting, but honestly I've been thinking about it recently, not cause of losses or money issues. But just because I have no desire to be where it seems 90% of forumville is in 10 years, and wanted to hear others thoughts on the correlation/causation topic.

It can be a sad state of affairs for some posters that hang around too much/too long.

I look at it just like I look at gambling. A hobby. Im self employed and my company often provides me with a lot of down time, so when I have it I get on SBR and screw around. whether it poker, or just posting. I enjoy being here and using it for what I do but if it left tommorow my life would not be altered(other than finding something new to kill time in my office)

Ive met a few of the guys from here and surprisingly there pretty normal dudes, that like sports/poker and gambling a little more than most.

I haven't read any of this thread other than the last few posts. Just to chime in to TTO...you're a seem to be a sharp enough guy to be able to find a balance in your life moving forward. Many of the people you see yapping in these forums are only gambling to compensate for areas lacking in their daily life. They are lost and driven by their fears most of the time.

Best I can say is that if winning in any kind of gambling is the highest of highs in your life that you are missing out and may have a problem. If you are passionate about sports/gambling and treat it as a hobby, unconsumed by it, but just experience the highs and lows in relative stride then never stop. Stop for days/months/years if you want.....take long vacations.....see sunsets and surf or something (whatever one does in cold cities). But don't worry about it ruining you.

If you are compulsive person than understand the reality that gambling can ruin you. But if you're compulsive in other areas of your life that can give you positive momentum, then it won't be able to touch you. Work out like a maniac.....dominate at your work/job.....fukk your wife. Then laugh off the fact that 'Marquette blew the cover and sleep like a baby.

Thanks DS and tatddy. Reassuring to hear that (especially from you two), I figured it shouldn't be that hard to keep keep gambling as part of your life, without it being the whole thing.

GL bobby. Not that its a huge deal with betpoints, but the bulls ML in the SBR book was -275 earlier today, and I bet its about -400 now, too bad you didn't get it earlier.

As soon as I saw the -275 in the SBR book, I checked live odds out and saw bookmaker was supposedly hanging -275 while everyone else was -390 or so. Hustled over to DSI (since I don't have a bookmaker account), and the line was off the board. I wonder if that big of an arb was really available for a decent amount of time at good books.

Last time this happened in a Heat home game vs a scab team (can't recall) and Heat were down 4 with 30 seconds left. Sweaterrrrrr.
