What a great way for non-pros to offload points.

No. Pull a pair of C notes out and go Pro.

Pro points are worth a nickle each but a non Pro's points have no costs to SBR hence no value. That would create a scenario whereby a non Pro redeemed his worthless points and SBR redeemed them at full value and hard costs to SBR.

    This is business 101 boys.

dj trying to make SBR hand out its own money gets absolutely buried by John.

dj, do you really think Sandy relief accepts SBR player points as a form of currency? Are they going to go into the SBR store and order some Papa Johns and a bouquet of roses?

There have been very few increases in quite a while and no new ones being considered. We did curtail a few problem countries where there was too much abuse and changed some shipping methods. Sam and Lou are doing a great job controlling costs without raising prices.

I think it's obnoxious for a non-pro to use points for anything of value and do feel $200 to charity is a reasonable option however, i am very disappointed all other options were taken away. the only option i understand is the sportsbooks. are the other options still available to non us residents? (fantasy, line services, vivid seat, etc?

You have a very good point John and I hope that the costs do stay down. I would consider letting non pros do this but make them pay a higher price than the pros do should be an option.

As cool as the 'hurricane relief' to go pro sounds, it would be bad business for sbr. Not sure it would be any different than non-pros being able to donate their points to the fund. . I understand its a business and not trying to take away anything from the "pros" or gain the same benefits as them, since they are bringing in the dough for the site

So if non-pro points have no value, why do they exist?

Why can you buy items with them?

Why can you carry over 5000 non-pro points when you go pro if they don't have the same value?

becuase those 5000 points are all contingent on the member becoming pro via $200 donation, DUH!

I didn't get 5000 points for going pro though? |

The points have the exact same value. Yes, you need to deposit $200 to use them fully but that doesn't change the value of them. If a non-pro transfers me points, nothing changes. They are still the same points with the same value.

Like you say they have no value until they go Pro... So what, they're just holding value? They're still the exact same points.

Even if you don't go Pro, you can still get merchandise at the same price Pros do.

I must be missing something obvious here. I get that without receiving money, it's stupid for SBR to allow people to buy stuff. But what stops a non-pro from transferring all their points to a Pro? Or what stops them from cleaning out the t-shirts and hats?

So you are saying SBR non-pros contribute nothing to SBR SEO and growth of new ppl registering LOL!!
Just like any Forum community you need posters" Posters Dont need Forums to strive in Business.. Business 101... Also if that is the case why is SBR giving out a IPAD in your Poker Tourney room for Non-Pros??

ok so i have a question if a non pro signs up with a sportsbook through an sbr link does sbr get kickbacks from that even though we are non pro?

ill answer that for you YES so dont make it like non pro's have no value to the site.

and all of these posters who are donating points to charity do they get a reciept or can sbr say they did it and take the points and not donate money? this is a real scumbag industry and you never know what people can or will do

Because I can point to alot that give out items to their dedicated contributing members without spending $200 just to become one..
SEO is the Key for any online business.. Also why dont SBR get rid of purchasing Google and BING placement ads and then tell me how that would work out for them

makes complete sense.. Yes SBR is getting write offs on those Donations also it would be best not click a SBR link via Sportsbook so they dont get any Affiliate Commission on sales
