Ok one way to do this is to check out the annual reports throughout the last 20 years.
Here is an example of one.

You will have to do some math this way, but you should be able to achieve it...
the link above from what I can see gives you 2011 and 2010 so you may be able to only have to look up every other year, now the issue will arise do you also need satellite stores as well?

Sounds like a bit of a trick question.
2011 Annual report talks about 400 odd closing down worldwide last year. God knows how you could work out 20 years worth if that is indicative. Let alone just for the US.

I bet the answer is supposed to be none, or just one maybe.
Will be by some McD corporate definition that none of these closures are actually "going out of business" closures.
Im finding links of this one closings in 2012 but then says 8 more opened. And thats one city. So you might be right.
Ya me too. If i dont get an answer it will bother me for weeks. then when i finally forget ill drive by a mcdonalds and remember it and theres another 2 weeks wasted.
