Using points for gift cards (US players)

I have never gotten around to going pro on this site but I was thinking about making a deposit at one of the sponsors so I can have access to use my points.

Since I'm an American player, can I redeem my points for things like gift cards after I go pro?

    Sorry for the novice question.

Yes you can redeem your points for gift cards after you go pro, however, you can not just make a deposit at one fo the sponsors like we use to be able to. Being a US resident you are going to be limited on options to become a pro.

I've gotten plenty of GCs, ebay, newegg, amazon. Go pro, order the cards, use them. Simple and awesome.

So I can become a pro by simply using my points to buy a pro membership? What is this new option?

If you've never been a Pro before you only have the $200 donation option.
