    Has Anyone experimented with Markov Chains for baseball?

    I'm just wondering if anyone has tinkered around with Markov chains (particularly in Excel). I'll be trying my hand soon and need some input (not planning on using it this year, it will take too long).

    I've never heard of him or that type of system. I'd be interested in finding out what it is, though.

    i think its more for analyzing stats, like if you sac bunt with a man on first and its succesful, how often will that runner end up scoring, its more for analitical purposes

    A Markov chain basically breaks baseball down into a number of states (0 outs, man on 2nd...2 outs, bases loaded, etc etc). It is used to project the number of runs a team will score, and seems to be better than BsR and is definitely better than RC.

    Was just wondering whether or not someone tried their hand at this.

    Maybe this belongs in the Thinktank?
