    Monday Value Plays

    I went 0-2 -2.00 units yesterday.

    Yankees +137
Pros: The Tigers are the one team that has been a bigger bust than the Yankees this season. They have given up on their season and do not ever deserve this much chalk. Verlander has not pitched well recently. The Yankees on the other hand are still in a pennant race and will be looking to get their bats going after dropping 2 of 3 to the Blue Jays. Ponson has been somewhat of a stopper for the Yanks and seems primed for the job in today's contest. All this coupled with the Tiger's atrocious pen makes this a great play. Say what you want about the Yanks, but I wouldn't be surprised if they swept the Tigers.

    Cons: None.

Ponson delivers in this kind of situation. Plus few things are worse than the Tigers' bullpen. The Tigers have nothing to play for while the Yanks still have reasons to play.

I forgot the statistic. But following Yankee losses, Ponson has a good ERA.

Eff the Yanks. You should go for the Red Sox on the -1.5 runline or Indians 1st 5 innings and call it a day.. Both the Yanks and Tigers play sh!tty on 1st days of a series.. Ponson should be able to hold the Tigers in check though. Verlander is thrash. You will probably win this pick but there are some better guaranteed picks out there today..

That statistic is the reason why he has been known to be a stopper. I heard it while watching one of the Yes Network broadcasts.

What about Verlanders 2.50 ERA in his last 3 makes you think he hasnt pitched well recently?

verlander has a home 4.6 era, he allowed 5 runs his last start
most overrated pitcher in baseball, the dude is garbage and the tigers are awful
defending sidney ponson is impossible, he is not a stopper, yes network pimps any yank, but the yanks are better, and plus money

Ponson is absolutely terrible. Dude should not be a major league pitcher.

I'd take Verlander over him in a heartbeat.

    probably
    but they may need 25

    ponsons is so bad
he had like 5 good starts and yanks fans ignored the last 5 years

they finally hit and he gives almost every single run right back

The Yanks are still in a good position to win. Tigers have a worse pen than the Yanks. Ponson has regressed lately. When he was on the Yanks a couple years back, he was a gas can. Now that he is starting to return to that, the Yanks need Joba back. Our starting 5 right now isn't the worst: Pettitte, Mussina, Pavano, Ponson, Rasner. when Joba comes back, then we will only have 1 worthless starter.

I agree. He got a few wins because he got extremely lucky. Yankees hit very well when he starts, for whatever reason. Awful pitcher.

last time Ponson was decent was 2003. Five seasons of awful pitching and he's still in the majors?

He's also extremely overweight and a criminal.

All that matters is that we won. Im considering White Sox +161 for the evening.

Thanks fifawcs for this nice call.
    Next, the White Sox.
We've missed out on the Nats even when we know Kendrick is funky in daytime and the Nats are now scoring regularly.

No. You are better off without the Nats. They are a "value trap." They may have won today, but 8 times out of 10 they lost that game. IF you took them today, you would probably take them tomorrow since you would be so stoked that you won. It's better not to involve yourself with them for the rest of the season.

The Chi Sox should win this game unless Cliff Lee is the greatest pitcher who ever lived.
