    play of the day

    florida+115
better hitting, better pen, sf is awful period
awful at home, awful pen, good starter but thats about it
sf has like 4-5 worthless rookies in their lineup and is just battered all around, rowand is hurting, lewis is hurting, and florida has something to play for

florida can hit fastballs, and thats what cain will throw

    matt cain is 8-9
who is matt cain? all of a sudden he is brandon webb or dice k or some dude who doesn tlose?

he pitches for a bottom 3 team in the major leagues
a team that could not solve ricky nolasco
i am a fan of nolasco, but if you are taking a good pitcher on a bad team, then you are going to lose your money more often than not

you guys are betting a starting pitcher on a bottom 3 team
do you have any idea how dumb that is
he isnt facing washington or san diego, its really dumb to lay on a pitcher, sub 500, on a 30 game under 500 team

    but gl

why do you only count his past 7 starts, what is the relevance of that
what does that have to do with today
sf is 5-5 in his past 10
why do you guys pick and choose some random number to start with, its just unbelievably nonsensical

florida is solid value at +115 against san fran. Set the pitching match-up aside, who can score more than 3 runs??? I'll take my chances with Florida. And SF doesn't hit that great against lefties, not to mention there AAA squad.

    YAHOO ARTICLE:

    Inside Pitch

More than most teams, the Giants are a threat to get no-hit on any given night.

Of the 30 big league teams, the Giants entered Tuesday night’s game 28th in runs (475), 22nd in hits (1,080), tied for 21st in batting average (.256) and last in homers (69).

Many of their hitters are new to the majors. The Giants’ youth movement is about trying as many young players at as many positions as possible. Fifteen prospects have made their big-league debuts this year, and Tuesday night’s game was full of fresh faces that weren’t supposed to be seen in the majors this year: first baseman Travis Ishikawa, second baseman Emmanuel Burriss, shortstop Ivan Ochoa and third baseman Ryan Rohlinger.

    None got hits Tuesday.

In fact, Marlins pitcher Ricky Nolasco went 8 1/3 innings giving up one hit, Randy Winn’s grounder off first baseman Mike Jacobs’ glove in the first inning. The Giants didn’t get another hit until Pablo Sandoval doubled as the second batter in the ninth.

None of the starting infielders had a hit.

However, they were charged with four errors, two by Ishikawa, one by Burriss and one by Rohlinger.

    It’s a learning process, and it’s painful.

Ok first off olson isnt that good especially lately. Has lost his past 3 starts. Now as much as sf offense sucks, they were able to hammer olson in his last start against them this year. If Sf scores more than 3 runs tonight, forget about it.

Who is Matt Cain you ask:

Matt Cain, is 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in three career starts versus the Marlins, and is 3-1 with a 1.72 ERA in his last five starts overall.

Scott Olsen is 0-4 with a 4.85 ERA over his last five starts. Even worse, he has a rather high 4.15 ERA in three career starts against the Giants and 2 of those 3 games were losses coming as a starter.

    I'll take the Giants

Not really. Because of sf poor offense, I look to see how they have playd offensively in previous matchups against the opposing pitcher especially when they have a shot with a solid pitcher in Matt Cain. SF can hit Olson hard!

because it matters, certain pitchers go there whole careers pitching well in certain ballparks or against a certain team, that is why Angels will win tonight too. Weaver isn't the greatest pitcher but he has pitched well against the rays, you don't ignore stuff like that if you want to make money.

listen guys, you can bet whoever you want, if you think weavers 2 2008 starts vs tb give you an edge, you are not going to win money. its just pointless to argue, but my guess is you are a beginner or dont watch much baseball. 2 starts is a pointless and tiny sample size

florida is better than sf, sf has no offense, they dont hit homers and they dont hit PERIOD

florida has a solid offense, has a top 5 pen, and is playing for somehting

so you guys bet a good pitcher, with a sub 500 record, we will see who wins
