Kind of an under-the-radar guy, but I really think Cliff Pennington, the SS for Oakland, will have a killer 2011. He quietly put up solid numbers this past season, while batting #9 a great deal of the time.

Other guys I'm looking at to have breakout seasons are Nick Hundley, Madison Baumgarner, Pedro Alvarez, and John Jaso.

Keep your eye on Starlin Castro.

The kid was barely 20 yrs old when he became an everyday shortstop. That in itself is pretty unusual. Hit .300 and showed real flashes of brilliance at short. He will add consistency in the field, and as he matures his power numbers will increase significantly.

A lot of upside with this kid. A star in the making for many years to come.

Nick Hundley? The guy sucks and has his slumps.

Pitchers: Mat Latos, Baumgarner, Kris Medlen, Mike Adams, and Strasburg (if healthy).

Batters: Jon Jay, Heyward, Carlos Gonzalez, and if healthy Kyle Blanks.

One of my biggest breakout candidates is Carlos Santana

Should rehab fully and completely to be ready for full spring training participation

still will be under the radar cuz the Indians will suck again

Some people in Washington think Ian Desmond is going to be really good at SS

.269, 10 HR, 65 RBI, 17 SB in his first full year as a starter.

I think John Jay will put up solid numbers and become a household name in a few years!
His plate discipline and bat control was ridiculous for a rookie last year!

hey J, if CarGo's last season wasn't a break out one, he's gonna hit 60 homers and .400 in 2011?

I think Colby Rasmus REALLY breaks out this year if he stays with the Cardinals. If La Russa doesn't act like I fa\*\*ot I easily project something around .290, 30 homers and 25 steals.

good call, he's exactly who i was coming to post.

that said, he's still going to be awfully young, and he only really had a couple of weeks of looking good at the mlb level.

Colby Rasmus is one of those guys that will fall deep in drafts, but he's someone who is going to have a 30/30 season sooner or later.

Also a big Starlin Castro fan, but I don't think his power numbers will be significant for another few years.

Only reason why John Jay might not break out, but I know he can, is the fact that the Cards signed Fatty Burkman.

That's what they say, but the people in the know said he's actually really good at defense. They think the errors were either bad luck or due to his range. Meanwhile a guy like Jeter is pretty immobile and won't get any errors.

I was expecting Travid Snyder to break out too last year, but instead of breaking out, he is getting fat.

I think Luke Hochever will have a big year for Kansas City. He has been working out extremely hard here in Knoxville preparing to take over the #1 spot in their rotation with the departure of Greinke.

I hope the young Reds continure to improve. However, it seems that when players get new contracts, they slip until it is time to get resigned again.
