Morneau is more of a contact hitter than a power hitter really. Outside of maybe Utley and Longoria, the rest of them are almost purely power hitters.

    i could not agree less
morneau has as much pure power as anyone.
grady sizemore is not a pure power hitter either

    My home run derby picks:

    C. Utley -520 TO LOSE:
    Risking $2000 TO WIN 384.62

    J. Hamilton +340 TO WIN:
    Risking $647.96 TO WIN 2,203

As long as Utley loses I'll be down about $250 at best which I can deal with at the moment. At best I'll come out with $2,500 :-)

Let me break down the derby:

    L. Berkman: Will be batting right-handed. I expect him to make the top 4 because of his experience, but can't match up to the moon shots Hamilton hits in BP

    C. Utley: 2nd favorite to win the competition. He has participated in a Single-A home run derby and hit 0 home runs. Admits his line drive approach is not a good formula for this derby

    D. Uggla: Actually one of my sleeper in this competition, but very hard for him to win.

    R. Braun: A strong favorite with his price. You can get him at +1000 on matchbook.

    J. Hamilton: The best BP hitter in this competition, plus the 314 line fits him well. The only negative I see here is he will be having a 71 yr old pitch to him.

    G. Sizemore: Another line drive type hitter. Same comments as Utley. 0 home runs in a minor league All-Star game derby.

    E. Longoria: -1100 to lose is a sure bet. I'd throw 60,000 on that if I had it in my account.

    J. Morneau: Experience home run hitter. Not bad odds at +500.
enjoy the win both great calls

She's only down $250 cause Utley cashed. Classic bad beat, we all know the feeling.

No I don't think it was a jinx.

But him hitting 28 in Round 1 has very little to do with what he may or may not do in the Finals.

Only down $250 which I can live with - especially with the upside potential of this bet. Hamilton deserved to win - but he didn't. I'll live with it

Excellent outlook, in no way would I be that positive. I'd probably look for the soonest game to dump more off on. Maybe that's why I'm any bookies favorite player?

I was at the derby and was obviously going crazy during the 1st round - but in the back of my mind the thought of him being tired never escaped. Deep down I knew the tear will catch up to him. I kept on telling myself - he doesn't look tired - he knows what he's doing. With 3 outs left in the finals I was probably the only one in the stadium sitting down....I knew he was done. Am I disappointed? Yes. I could have had a $7,000 bank roll tonight, and was extremly close to getting it done. But deep down I knew I made a solid bet, with outstanding odds. You will never find a favorite at +400 in any event. When you do you have to take a risk. I did it here and lost $250. The way I looked at it was don't bet and keep your cash, or do a unique bet to try and cover costs, and bet $500 to possibly four times that amount.

If I had to do it over again, I would. Now I just have to hold myself from betting 2K on the National League tomorrow....HAHA

At least you got to go to the derby in person, I'm jealous.

I went to two games at Yankee stadium this year, will try to swing another before they close up shop. The NL does look a little inviting tomorrow..
