Thank God April Is Over! (Big Weekend Ahead!)

Aptil started out with a bang for me. I quickly went up 25 units. But a terrible slump towards the end of the month has dropped me down to just +2 units on the year. Normally I wouldnt complain about being in the BLACK, but after going up so much, it has become a disappointment.

    YTD: 55-57 +2.62

    Onto May (2nd)

    Astros -137 (2 units) (Villanueva/Oswalt)
    Cardinals -115 (2 units) Hill/Wainwright)
    Dodgers -1.5 +155 (2 units) Penny/Francis)
    Mets +110 (1 unit) (Maine/Owings)

I like the Cardinals and the Astros pick
Don't know about the Dodgers game, but I don't like the Mets...

Good Luck today. Hope you get up to around 25 units again soon

I'm with you on the Dodgers. Not a big fan of the other three picks, however. I was leaning with the Brewers and Diamondbacks but didn't play them. I definitely couldn't lay that much wood with the Astros. Oswalt has been hit fairly hard lately. I think he's overpriced here. Maine on the other hand is underpriced. He should be getting about +130 against Owings and the DBacks. The Cubs/Cards game I can't pick a side. This one's a coin flip in my opinion. Anyway, good luck. Hope they cash for you.

I agree with the HOU pick although I have HOU U 77 season win total so I wouldn't mind seeing them lose.

But realistically, outside of Ben Sheets and Yovani Gallerdo, the Brewers starting pitching is very mediocre: Jeff Suppan, Manny Para, Carlos Villenaveu, and Dave Bush (now in the minors) and has always fared much worse on the road than at home.

Despite early season struggles, Roy Oswalt is still an elite pitcher and is starting to pitch well once again. Up until last year, HOU had dominated the series with MIL and Oswalt was a big reason why.

I like HOU to get a win here, something like 5-1 or so.

Francis is overvalued IMO. Penny has had great success against the Rockies. I like the way the Dodgers are playing too. They will beat Francis.

Hill is having trouble this year getting into the late innings. Wainwright is underrated and undervalued.

Wainwright is also 0-3 with a 8.73 ERA and 1.939 WHIP against the Cubs in his career...

Up until last year, the Brewers were a sub .500 team while the Astros were a playoff contender. Things have changed...

Sure, but if you compared Oswalt and Villenueva, the Brewers could win the next 10 WS's and Oswalt will still be better. Too much respect being given her to MIL in this game IMO

If you're comparing strictly the starting pitchers, sure Oswalt is better. However, the Brewers come with a stronger lineup and the Astros often struggle to put up runs even with a "gas can" on the mound. I just don't think the Astros are worth anything near -137 since Oswalt isn't nearly as dominant as he once was and the Astros have very little offensive might outside of Carlos Lee.
