    Why are there so many no hitters this year?

    I was debating this with some friends tonight. Why have there been so many no no's and near misses this year? Its ridiculous. Whats everyones opinion/reasoning?

    roids ain't got nuttin to do with it

    u talking about handful of games where 1 team put lots of balls in play with just 1 hit or less

    in 2400 games/season, odds are it's gonna happen certain number of times, and this year there's a few more than usual

    u think jackson/galarraga no-nos had anything to do w/roids? r u effin nutz brah???

    selig trying to quicken games...tells umps to call more strikes...better chance of no-hitter. i'd like to see some stats on number of strikes vs balls this year.

    IMO MLB did something with the ball this year. No one would have to know except the Comish and the guy in charge of making the balls, Why would they do this? Simple, to lessen the public perspective of every one on steroids by making it more of a pitchers game.

    Steroids = stronger/quicker bat speed = more time to see/wait on a pitch = more balls hit more squarely!
