    3 for sunday

MLB YTD: 2-0 (Up 2 units with 1 future wager pending)

I have a lot of action going today beginning with the early game between Florida and Cincinnati, so let's get to it.

Game 1: The Reds (66-51) look to complete a 3 game sweep of the Marlins (57-58) at home today, as they send Homer Bailey (1-2, 5.51) to the mound to face Anibal Sanchez (9-7, 3.33). For Homer Bailey, this will be his first start in nearly 3 months. The once hopeful prospect gets the nod as Johnny Cueto serves out his 7 game suspension. Spending most of the season on the DL, Bailey put together a solid 2-1, 1.44 ERA during his rehab stint in the minors. The Reds aren't looking for perfection from him today; Bailey's job will be to keep the game close so the Reds have a chance to win it. Anabal Sanchez has been nearly unhittable on the road his last two outings, and the Marlins's sluggers are a combined 0 for 10 vs Bailey. We are getting an inflated total today based on Bailey's early season struggles, but his solid rehab appearances and his newfound confidence along with his desire to remain a starter when Cueto returns will help to keep this game under. The play: Marlins/Reds U 9 1/2 (-115) for 1 unit.

Braves/Dodgers: The Dodgers and Braves play the 3rd game of a 4 games set that will conclude on Monday. The Dodgers send Vicente Padilla (6-3, 3.32) to the mound to face Jair Jurrjens (4-4, 4.16). Both games in this 4 game set have been decided by a single run, and the two teams have combined to score just 4 runs between them. The Braves continue to maintain a hold in the NL East, while the Dodgers hope to stay within striking distance until they get a chance to face their divisional leaders. The Dodgers have failed to score more than 3 runs in 17 of its last 23 games. The Dodgers have won just 3 times in their last 15 road games, and Vicente Padialla is not the guy to turn it around, as he has posted an ERA of 5.14 away from home this season. Look for Padilla's struggles to continue a Braves win. The play: Braves -135 for 1 unit.

Brewers/Rockies: In another matchup between a team that has fallen out of any hopes for a playoff spot against a team on the verge of dropping out, the Brewers and Rockies face off at Coors Field in the rubber match of a 3 game series. The first two games of the series have been split between the two teams between identical scores of 5-4. The Brewers will send Manny Parra (3-9, 5.46) to the mound to face Rockies' ace Ubaldo Jiminez (17-3, 2.55). An obvious mismatch on the mound, it is of no surprise we find the Rockies laying heavy chalk today. Today will mark the second time that Jiminez will try to break the Rockies' single season record in wins, and he gets that opportunity at home. Jiminez is 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA vs the Brew Crew in his career, while Parra is 0-2 with a 7.27 ERA against the Rockies. Parra has been showing some improvement in his most recent starts, but he does not have what it takes to dual with Ubaldo Jiminez. Look for the Rockies bats to come alive and Ubaldo Jiminez to become the new record holder for Colorado wins in a season as the Rockies win consecutive games for the first time in 2 weeks. The play: Rockies -1 1/2 (-125)
