Be careful chasing with the Yankees on Wednesday

I'm not necessarily advocating a big TOR play, but Marcum -- like Romero tonight -- will be the better pitcher on the bump tomorrow. Also like RR, he's one of the more underrated starters in baseball.

Look at Hughes' #'s recently. Look at his home and day ERA's. Look at his last outing vs. TOR on July 4.

The Yankees will be a huge public play on Wednesday, and they could come through and bring balance back to the world of pinstripes. But don't bet the farm just based on the idea that they can't get swept. They can, and very well might.

What I wrote in another thread:

The problem is if the a different team was in the Yanks EXACT same spot in this game, most people wouldn't bet the game. Because it's the Yanks a lot of people feel you must bet because they "can't" get swept.
It's a bet for value of the dogs or you sit and watch.

The Yankees really aren't that different -- or better -- than Toronto as far as I'm concerned. They rely on the long ball, they have decent starting pitching heavily leaning toward the front end, their middle relief is sub-par....only difference is the Yanks have Mo and the Jays have Gregg.

lol. The Major difference is - They are called the Yankees. That is very strong in many ways and that is why people chase them to the grave.

I just don't want anyone going into the poorhouse tomorrow on this play, because there are better ones on the board.

I have a feeling TA's going to make a monster play on NYY, and some people will blindly follow. He's one of the best on this site, but he's not immune to slumps either (we both know what that's like) and I don't think chasing with the Yankees is a wise bet at all here.

Hell, if you want a team in that range price-wise, take the Reds and put 30 more cents in your pocket. A lot of road juice, true, but you get Cueto vs. Karstens.

    100% agreed.
As I said people see the Yanks and bet. I worked on an Israeli site, people would bet the Yanks blindly EVERYDAY because they are like Brazil of soccer. Everyone forgot Brazil is not Brazil anymore.
So yes, the Yanks might win another one, but this is not a great spot to bet them.

I think a lot of people are banking on the Yankees finishing strong for the AL East title.

That doesn't look very likely based on the way they've played the last week . . . no hitting, pitching that is just so-so . . .

Did Yanks ever lose series at home this season? I don't think so. Yanks will win, one way or the other..

Newer saw good pitcher losing the game? I see it daily, all the time..

For me to lose series team should lose all games. That's what I mean.

And I don't remember this season time when Yankee lose all games at home.

    This wouldn't be any different..

Marcum has been hit hard vs. the Yanks, yes.

And Hughes has done well in the past vs. the Jays, yes.

Can't discount the big mo', though -- unless you expect Hughes to suddenly start pitching well again.

Stats held up here. Hughes, for once, was solid.

Looks like a nice call, shoe and TA.
