The Cubs have won 3 out of their last four games, But it won't be an easy win today as they send the struggling Ted Lilly to the hill. The one time ace, holds a 3-8 record with a 3.88 ERA, However, his inconsistancy has been a real problem for him this season. The Cubs have dropped 3 of his last 4 starts and playing on the road has been an issue for the left-hander as well. Lilly holds a 1-4 record in hostile territory and Chicago has dropped 5 of his 7 starts (on the road) this year. Lilly has face the Astros once this year no getting a decision, pitched over 7 innings allowing 1 run and fanned 6 batters. Lifetime he holds a 7-1 record with a 2.36 ERA.
Brett Myers will counter for the Astros. He has pitched well dispite his team struggling with a 40-59 record, but it has been all wins for Myers win he takes the hill this year at home posting a perfect 5-0 record at Minute Maid Park. Dispite his 7-6 record he has still held a pretty desent ERA of 3.24. Houston has won 8 of his 9 home starts this year. Myers has given the Astros the opportunity to win. In his last 3 starts, The right-hander is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA. Houston has won all 3 of his last starts. Myers is 1-0 this year against the Cubs and 8-3 Lifetime with a 2.52 ERA to support him on the hill. I like Myers and the Astros in this spot as Lilly has been terrible on the road and the Cubs pullpen has been terrible in the last 3 games holding an ERA over 7. most are over worked.
