Pavano has been pitching lights out in has last 3. Lotsa factors point towards Minny I think, plus this is a good team, I don't think they'll drop 5 straight. As underdogs, they might be worth a small play, even though the Mets have been hot lately. BOL on whatever you decide

Most of the Twins hitters don't have any batting history against Santana. Mets also have little batting history vs. Pavano. Wright is 4-6 lifetime vs. Pavano with a homerun. Not saying these career batter vs. pitcher stats mean anything, but just noting.

Both pitchers are sort of at similar points in their season, with relatively weak win-loss records. Pavano's been very unremarkable on the road for his career (sub- .500). Pavano has given up 11 home runs in last 10 starts (and Santana 8). The Mets have been on the road a lot lately, and Santana has only had three home starts in the last ten games (he got hit hard by two NL West teams, San Diego and San Francisco ... but had a great start against the Yankees).

Given the lack of historical AB's for each team against the respective pitchers, I don't see any real edge in any of the matchups. I also don't see either pitcher being on any more of a roll than the other (both have pretty mediocre W-L records).

For me, just gut feeling says the Mets continue to be hot, Pavano gives up at least one big HR, and this is a game where Santana grinds out an 8- inning, 2 run outing.

    Mets 5 Twins 2.

I'm with darkenergy on this one. Santana's going against his old teammates, so the emotion throws the traditional wisdom out the window for me, plus with Morneau and Mauer in the lineup, you really can't trust that the Twins won't go off.
