Nice matchup here. Garcia has not allowed 3 earned runs in ANY of his starts this season. That has him with the 2nd best ERA in the Majors. Very impressive for a rookie. An impressive stat to go with him is his 12 unders in 13 starts.
It shows just how good he will pitch. He's also a lefty, which causes problems for the Jays who hit only .199 v lefties this season. The Jays are only 6-10 this season against lefties this season, and they're facing a really good one. Cecil has been pitching really well too. Before he gave up 5 runs in his last start, he was on a 5 game streak of giving up 2 runs or less.
I think he can bounce back here and pitch well too. Also...the under is 4-7 in his starts this season and the Cardinals hit .241 v lefties this season as well so it's not like they're much better. And they're only 10-9 against lefties this season. Pretty big bullpen differential here. The Cards rank 4th with a 3.18 ERA while the Jays rank 21st with a 4.35 ERA. Both teams are 4-2 in their last 6 games. The Jays are 19-15 at home while the Cards are 15-19 on the road. I think this will be a well pitched game but the Jays, being so bad against lefties, lead me to believe that Garcia will keep them in place. My play is the Cards -pickem GL
