White Sox get Gold Glove SS Cabrera for right-hander Garland

Where does this leave Uribe? They just sogned him to a one year deal.

The White Sox and Angels completed a major trade Monday, with Chicago acquiring Gold Glove shortstop Orlando Cabrera in exchange for right-handed starting pitcher Jon Garland.

Cabrera, 33, enjoyed a career year in 2007 for the Angels, batting .301 with 35 doubles, 8 home runs and 86 RBIs. He also scored a career-best 101 runs in 155 games.

Cabrera earned his second Gold Glove award in 2007. He also had 20 stolen bases in 2007, his fifth year of 20 or more steals in his career.

The 28-year-old Garland was 10-13 last season with a 4.23 ERA in 208 1/3 innings pitched. He had two complete games in his 32 starts. He is 92-81 in his major league career.

White Sox Trade Garland to the Halo's

I think this was a very good trade for the Halo's, because they really needed one more quality arm in that rotation.

Agreed. And they have Brandon Wood waiting in the minors to take Cabrera's spot at short.

Halos still need a big bat in the middle of the lineup to protect Vlad. Miguel Cabrera?

Cabrera would be a great addition to that lineup RJT, however the last I heard about him was that the Giants were making a extremely strong move towards him.

That's true, but unfortunately they ended up with Garland.

Garland would be great if he could just avoid that one big inning. That's been his problem his entire career. Maybe a new coaching staff can straighten him out.
