how are "Matchup ratings" in Yahoo fantasy Baseball set up

Okay, most people have had yahoo Fantasy baseball leagues.
if you click on your team you will notice you can choose an option called 'matchup ratings' and it will show these weird things. How do they calculate stuff like "this batter bats 3-16 vs similar pitchers to Kazmir"
what do they define as a similar pitcher?

or like "Olsen usually struggles against hitters lke Barmes"
    what are "hitters like barmes"

i ofcourse dont put much stock into the matchup ratings unless it clearly shows something good.
but maybe knowing how they figure out some stuff will help a little

For pitchers I think someone they would define as a similar pitcher would be someone with the same types of pitches, pitch speed, and same throwing hand

I never paid attention to those facts. but I did get 1st place in my league in 2009.
I stop playing Fantasy League after conquering it on my first try.
Now I am off to betting on the games.
