    Can the Yankees catch Boston?

I say they can and will, and heres why:

    Next Five Games

Tue, Sep 25 at Tampa Bay 7:10 pm
Wed, Sep 26 at Tampa Bay 7:10 pm
Thu, Sep 27 at Tampa Bay 7:10 pm
Fri, Sep 28 at Baltimore 7:05 pm
Sat, Sep 29 at Baltimore 7:05 pm
You can't much easier than that only when your only behind 2 games in the division even if it is Boston.

Yup, the easier schedule probably favors NYY.

@ Tampa Bay and @ Baltimore.

The only two things are NYY is only 38-37 on the road, and 35-31 against the AL East. Didn't look at how well they have matched up against TB and BAL this year, but I'm sure it's pretty good.

BOS, on the other hand, has MIN and OAK, who are much better than BAL and TB, but they have them @ Home with a 47-28 record in Fenway.

Not now that Manny is back. I don't think the Yankees really care though. They made their point, they convinced everyone they are as good as anybody, and they're willing to play Cleveland (hopefully) or LAA.

The fact that the A's have totally quit doesn't help the Yanks' chances either. They are the team to beat in the AL though.

No because Boston wont stop winning. Yanks will play good enough but Boston wont play bad enough.

If you need proof, look who pitched tonight in a close game that was, for all intents and purposes, a must-win to win the division:

    Igawa
    Ramirez
    Bruney
    Villone
    Britton
    Farnsworth
    Veras
    Karstens

I think that getting to the play-offs after a disaster of a start to the season will be enough for the Yankees this year. There's little point in over-using the arms of Jabba and Rivera in some vain attempt to catch the Red Sox which may then kill them come the post-season.

If Igawa only managed 5 innings then who the heck is going to pitch the rest (bearing in mind what I mentioned above)? You list a sorry list of pitchers, but that's the Yankees bull-pen for you.
