Talk about flying under the radar...

I know it's probably way to late for the Reds this year to win the Central division and all, but damn !!! They have won like 7 straight, and are only like 6 or 7 games out of first place.

If not for a brutal stretch in May when they lost 20/25, they'd be right there in that terrible division.

Too bad. I'd love to see Jr. in the playoffs.

The Reds pitching might keep them out of the playoffs, but they are consistently in the top of major league teams in runs scored per game last 7 games.

    But their pitching is horrible.

Has a lot to do with the ballpark they play in.

The Pads would put up a lot of runs playing half their games at Great American.

What a sad Division that is. To have Cincy 6.5 games back and be a contender for the title. Not a single team there deserves to be there for October's dance and sadly one team will have to represent. Most 3rd place teams from other Divisions would either be leading or within a few games. I'd sure like to see the Pirates win it, 9 back is nothing in the Central. Just to show how pathetic it is.

I don't want to see the damn Reds or their joke of a pitching staff in the playoffs. Nice run against a lifeless Braves club and then an even more dead club in the Marlins.

The reds could really make up some ground right now in the NL central too right now.

Lets look at this from the big picture guys:

They are only 6.5 games back right now, and the Brewers and Cubs play a 3 game set at Wrigley starting on Tuesday, and the Cardinals play at Houston on Tuesday as well. Then the Reds play the Cardinals for 3 games this weekend.

Cincy plays a 4 game set this week against Pitt, and could realistically climb right back into the race after that series is over.

Never mind the REds making ground, the CArds are in way better position. With the Brewers and Cubs playing each other this benefits STL, especially with the lowly Astros up next. Houston played WASHington and Pirates only to come out with 2 wins and all at home. The Pirates have been playing good all month, they play much better at home and their starting staff impressive for a last place club (especially this last week) Even if Cincy sweep Pitts, it is highly unlikey the Cards and Cubs will be swept themselves. (thus making very little ground) The Cards can make some serious noise with a sweep, then distance themselves by beating Cincy at home (where they'll be there for 7 games)
Cincy are pretenders. All hitting and no pitching. They have a very tough schedule in September with only 1 potentially easy series (that being SF) LIke OWNED said, they made ground playing weak and struggling teams. Now , we're going to see what they are really made of. I think they're made of toilet paper...soft and easy to break.
Push them back to double digits, where they truly belong this year.

The one thing about the Cardinals is that they have a few extra games they play opposed to everyone else in the division. However, there downfall is that they only have 1 day off left for the entire season, which could really hurt them.
