    Bobby Jenks - rather incredible

I had to read this twice to make sure I was understanding.

Bobby Jenks has retired 41 straight batters. No hits and no walks. 41 straight outs. The equivalent of an almost 14 inning perfect game.

This ties the major league record held by Jim Barr.

The White Sox don't play today so his next chance to break the record will be tomorrow.

I hadn't heard a thing about this until today. Maybe it would be sexier if he was going after a record held by Bob Gibson or Walter Johnson or something, but it seems amazing to me and I thought I'd mention it.

Mud, I was thinking the exact same thing when I read about this yesterday. Exact same as in I also had no idea that this streak was underway. I also hate to admit it, because I like to think I have a pretty good knowledge of baseball history, but my other thought was: "Who the hell was Jim Barr?"

This was already posted in the baseball handicapping section. Old news.
