Pay Cuts will be the biggest issue.

The biggest hurdle will be getting the players to agree to take a pay cut.

I think something? Is far better than nothing. If the players are not paying attention to what is happening to Mlb right now? Then they are foolish. The middle to lower tier owners needed the draft cut from 40 rounds to 5 to save as much money as possible. The players should be able to understand that this is not a year where 68 million fans will attend games and revenues for their employers are in the toilet. They are going to have to make some sacrifices

Unless people are spitting in the faces of opponents, spread will be nil outdoors.

Managers won't be able to run out and berate umpires in their faces. Spit often flies there. And we all remember Roberto Alomar.....

Players union may be a long way from approving that proposal.

    A long way.

Players in no hurry to get back on the field and the union will want owners to eat losses while the owners want players to "share the losses."

The thinking is that the players don't get extra bonuses when the teams make more than expected, so why should they share in the losses when the team makes less than expected.

    Going to be a battle.

Yep, The owners will have tremendous leverage when 33 million Americans are unemployed and don't think for a second they won't use it. The PA will be reluctant to give up anything when you know dam well that it will be very difficult to get that back what they give up in the future.

You missed the part where the players are not playing with a 50% paycut.

    Well, would you imagine that.

For the first time ever, the owners are willing to share revenue with the players...

Major League Baseball owners, with an abundance of optimism that baseball will be played this year, are scheduled to vote on a plan Monday that will require teams to share at least 48% of their revenue with the Major League Baseball Players Association this season, two people with direct knowledge of the proposal told USA TODAY Sports. The people, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity because they were unauthorized to discuss details, said the historic revenue-sharing plan is integral to diminish revenue losses with games potentially being played without fans beginning in July. MLB officials say that teams are expected to lose about 40% of their gross revenue from ticket sales, concessions and parking.

This would be the first time in history that MLB clubs would be willing to share their revenue with players, although it’s common in other sports. In the NFL, players get 47% of revenue, and NBA players receive between 49% and 51% based on expected income

    In a down year.

    LMAO.

Let's see if the players bite for future earnings. This could be good for a potential July MLB start. At least they give the Player's Union something to ponder.

These baseball players are not grateful for the big money they earn playing a kids game. Spoiled brats is what they are.

Everyone else in this country had to take a haircut but MLB players think they are exempt.

    Fukk them.

I hope they shut the whole thing down.

But for the first time in history they are being offer revenue sharing.

MLB has exploded in value, the players missed out.

This is their chance. They might take it, would be longer term thinking as this year will be shitty.

They should consider it a huge win.

In other words, we're still in the 1st inning of this pandemic.
Definitely surprising findings. I am not sure how to reconcile that with the NY state study last month that suggested 2.7 million state residents may have been infected when this study suggests 2.3 million nationally.
Just more mind fukin numbers. The real rate is surely more than .7% nationally though. By how much, who knows.

Well, NY is/was the epicenter and the MLB is a cross-section. But still, yeah the truth is in between. I'm sure it's more than 0.7%, but it's also certainly not the 15-20% some though. 3-5% nationally is my guess. A pretty small number. Means we're just in the 2nd inning of this thing. It's not going away.
