Sierra had a bunch in 88 or 89. Guy was a stud, surprised his numbers are still relevant given all the sluggersTexas has had.

I think you may be right Minny. He put up some great years late 80s, early 90s. Sierra was a great pure hitter.

Sierra is the perfect example of a guy you kind of forget about because the steroid era stats were just stupid.

Not Sandy, who's autograph I once obtained way back when. I mention it because he wasn't known at the time for giving them out.

He pitched 453 innings one season and didn’t even lead the league. How fast were those guys pitching back then??

    Eddie Murray
    Big Frank

    Yeah, it was Sierra.
Dude was a slugger, but was wound up too tight in the head.

I know Raffy never hit 50 in a season, he never led the league in homers either, that much I know.
I'm trying to think if there was another one.

You guys are naming the right names...

...but would it shock you to know that 15 of the 30 members never hit 50.

That's a true testimonial to a great and consistent career

    not that surprising to me.

When I grew up as a fan, 50 was super rare. went decades before and after George Foster's 50.

there prob were only a handful of guys not named Babe Ruth that did it before him.

i'm sure most of the 15 are very modern players. Babe, Mantle, Mays would have done it, but not sure if any others like Mel Ott might have done it before Foster

    Foxx hit 58 in '32

Actually I was off on the figure

    Aaron
    Pujols
    Robinson
    Killebrew
    Jackson
    Ramirez
    Williams
    Ott
    Mathews
    Banks
    Mccovey
    Palmerio
    Sheffield
    Thomas
    Murray
    Schmidt

    So 16 never did it

It's been 11 years since we've seen a pitcher win his 300th game.

It likely won't ever happen again, as Verlander would need to win 26 games per year for 3 straight years to get there....as he's the closest.

Who was the last pitcher to win 300 games?

Can you name the last 4 to win 300? They all did it within 3 years of one another.
