Since 1975 to the present day 2020 six different pitchers have pitched no hitters on three days of rest or less.

Nolan Ryan actually pitched four no hitters on three days rest.
The last time he did it was like I mentioned in 1975.
He did it 1974 too, and in 1973 Ryan pitched two no hitters on three days rest.
Some people still don't comprehend the greatness that was Nolan Ryan.
And to think the Mets gave him up to the Angels for Jim Fregosi, a untility infielder.
Then again this is the same Mets that gave up Tom Seaver to the Reds for four hamburgers.
Seaver won three Cy Youngs was dubbed "The Franchise" and they gave him up for garbage.
Tom Seaver was to the Mets in the 60's and 70's what Larry Bird was to the Celtics in the 80's.
Anyway, which five pitchers hurled a no hitter on three days rest or less after Nolan Ryan did it in 1975.

The last time a starting pitcher made 36 starts was in 2003.
Greg Maddux of the Braves made 36 starts in 2003 in the National League, Roy "Doc" Halladay of the Blue Jays made 36 starts in 2003 in the American League. Hall of Famers both. Funny how that works out.
Speaking of Greg Maddux, do you know who really despised the pitch count and extra day rest stuff?
Bobby Cox. He and Billy Martin were the only two managers who were outspoken about the babying of their starters.
Cox and Martin would rather see his starters finish what they started.
Martin was widely accused of ruining the Oakland A's pitching staff in the 80's by overworking them.
(Just don't say it to the deceased Billy Martin's face, he'd sit your ass down.
I was never a Braves fan, and even though Billy Martin was possessed by personal demons both Cox and Martin forgot most baseball that none of us will ever learn.
20 years later the most starts any pitcher made since 2003 in a season was 35.
So you could say the three day rest era for starting pitching died in 2003.
So it would be safe to assume the last time an idividual tossed a no-no on three days rest would probably be 2003 or prior.

The last pitcher to make 40 or more starts in a season was Charlie Hough, but he's an anomoly.
Hough threw a knuckle ball pretty much 80 percent of the time.
Throwing a knuckle ball does not tax your arm.
Hough made 40 starts for the Rangers in 1987.

Funny thing about that is one of the best fades in MLB wagering is to bet against the pitcher the next start he makes after throwing the no hitter.
It's not automatic but fading the pitcher after throwing a no-no turns a slight profit, not a huge sum.
Also the data base I use for that stat needs to be updated, I'm saying as of 2016 that fade is a slight money maker,

OK, the last pitcher to throw a no hitter on three days rest was Chris Bosio of the Seattle Mariners.
That happened in 1993.
Bosio is an all time Nasher fave by the way.
I loved to watch him pitch, he always had this shit eating grin oh is face as if he didn't give a crap, believe me, he did.
The pitcher who did it before Bosio was one of the greatest pitchers of our generation.
He was one of the most clutch pitchers of our generation too, and needless to say he's a Hall of Famer.
People, this is the easy one.
The three pitchers after that are not so easy answers.
Jack Morris?
Yes, that was in 1984.
It took a decade for someone (Bosio) to pitch a gem on short rest.
The three that comes after Nolan Ryan and before Bosio and Morris are not household names.
OK here's a hint, one of the three pitchers that haven't been named yet pitched a no hitter on short rest as a member of the Montreal Expos, (Not Pedro)

Dierker did indeed toss his masterpiece in 1976, however he accomplished his no hitter on four days rest.
The trivia of the question was which no hitters were thrown by the starting pitcher coming off of three days rest or less.
Just for shits and giggles here's the game logs for Dierker from the month of July, 1976.
He made five starts in July, as a matter of fact Dierker made 28 apppearances in 1976, all in starts.
Of the 28 starts, only two of them were on short (3 days) rest.
15 of the 28 starts Dierker made for Houston were starts coming off of four days rest from the previous outing,

Who threw the last pitch at the Polo Grounds?
I do know it was the Mets hosting the Phillies.
Shea Stadium wasn't competed until after 1963 so the Polo Grounds was the Mets home field.
I do know the Phils beat the Mets that day, I do remember reading (I wasn't even born yet) that Chris Short threw a complete game giving up 1 erarned.
So I'm going with Chris Short.
Now after the Mets moved to Shea Stadium and the Giants moved to SF there were still some exhibition games played at the Polo Grounds, but I'm going with the final MLB regular season pitch was thrown by Chris Short.
Sorry about that.
