On Wednesday, they started long reliever Kyle Dowdy because they had scratched Drew Smyly because of "nerve tightness" in his left arm. They had already burned through their most recent insurance policy, Wei-Chieh Huang, after Lance Lynn failed to complete four innings in Tuesday's start. So Huang, acquired from Arizona at last year's trade deadline, was sent back to Frisco after one outing and 48 pitches. He will be replaced by Hearn, who was acquired from Pittsburgh for Keone Kela at last year's trade deadline.
