Why the Rockies on Sunday at -140...Kyle Freeland takes the ball for Colorado who is making his first home start of 2018. In 2017, Freeland's era was a respectable 3.72 at home compared to his 4.57 era on the road. The last time Freeland faced the Braves IN Colorado came in August 2017 where he allowed 3 runs through 6 innings on 2 BBs, 5 Ks and 0 HRs. This current Braves lineup has just 33 combined ABs off of Freeland with a .333 BA and 1 HR. Considering that Freeland's BABIP against in his last start was .250, we value the underexposure to this Braves lineup heading into Sunday. The Braves will be starting Sean Newcomb who is coming off of a poor start in his season debut. In that start against the Nationals IN Atlanta, Newcomb allowed 5 ER through 4 IP on 4 BBs, 6 Ks and 1 HR. The last time that Newcomb started IN Colorado came in August 2017 where he allowed 3 ER through 6 IP on 4 BBs and 3 HRs. The Rockies have a combined 35 ABs off of Newcomb with a .286 BA/.359 OBP and 3 HRs coming from three different players. A number to note here with Newcomb is that he allowed 10 HRs in 2017 but 4 of those came on the road through 37 IP compared to the 6 HRs that he allowed through 63 IP.
