    Nash 2018 MLB baseball

    FIRST AND FOREMOST:

There's a good chance I may not finish this thread, real life happens, and I don't have the time to finish it.
Many of you haters blame it on me having a losing streak, but I've bailed on winning streak too.
    I'll try my best.

I usually don't like laying lumber, but James Shiels is bona-fide hamburger, Danny Duffy is a stud.
The loss of Hoss and Cain won't hurt today,

    KC -132 here

KC gets 4 in the first, feeling real good.
Then the Duff man pukes up 5 in the fourth, I'm like are you kidding me, 5 rune against that weak ass line up.

This wasn't even a homer pick, this was a top 15 starter against a meatball.
I hate losing the first game.

That wasn't a homer pick, Duffman is on a different planet than Shields.

    lol

This is my seventh year doing baseball here, 5 winning seasons, two losing seasons.
Feeling here is it's going to boh frustrating and tricky first few months.
Looks like Astros and Yanks are going to start strong, but chalk will catch up to you.
Look at the LA Dodgers last year, they did not turn a profit, they weren't bankroll killers, but did not turn a profit.

Nasher likes the Angels with Shoemaker.
Comes down to Angels have the better bats, and Shoemaker is clearly the better starter here.

    Oakland starts Dan Mengden who sports a 5 and 11 record, 1.40 WH/IP, and a 5.24 ERA
Sorry A's fans I can not endorse that.

    Gimme LAA -109

    They'll go like 74 and 88.
Duffy Kennedy and Hammel don'r totally suck ass.
Looks like I'm going to have to wait anoher 20 years for another WS.

I don't get it, Mr. Glass (owner) who used to be Mr. Big Shot at Wal-Mart, has more money than just about anyone, but refuses to open his wallet, which means that limits Dayton Moore can do, and Moore is one of the better GM's i the game.

Moore was the brains behind that KC three year run.
He traded head case Zack Greinke to the Brewers for World Series center fielder Lorenzo Cain and World Series shortstop Escobar, Moore got the Brewers to throw in Jake Odorizzi as well. Royala promptly flipped Odorizzi to Tampa Bay for James "Big Game" Shields (who didn't really live up to the hype) but was instrumental because he ate up a ton of innings and Wade Davis who's an elite reliever.

So in essence for Greinke Royals got Wade Davis, Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, and James Shields. (Mike Montgomery too)
That my friend was a stroke of genius, and how you get to back to back World Series.

Now we're back to sucking again.
But know this, there were a shitload of baseball memories in 2015 I'll take to my grave.

Your pal Nashy likes the Nationals tonight.
You have to respect the streak, as they start the season at 3-0 and there's no reason I believe they don't extend that to 4-0.

What we have here is a pitching mismatch.
Tanner Roark (Nats) is light years better than Sean Newcomb (Braves)
Washington's sticks are light years better than the Braves offense too.

What I like here the most is Newcomb is not a good left handed starter, and the Nats are notrorious LHP killers.

Washington at -121 is my best play todaay.
Since the Nats are on the road, they are guaranteed a ninth inning at bat so the run line (-1.5 runs) at a very enticing +140 is a consideration as well.

    NATIONALS -121 1*

Had no play yesterday, Saturday's play LAA with Shoemaker was a winner leveling our record to 1 and 1 (-0.32)

Nashy was on the 30 day DL as he had to spend time at St.Vincent's with insane back, hip, and knee problems.
It got so bad I could not rise up and get off the sofa for 2 days, had to call the ambulance, they literally carried me out of my home. Nobody should have to experience that kind of pain.
So I'm going to have my entire left hip replaced next month. No choice.

OK, enough about Nasher's aches and pains and joints and shit.

This week has got to be one of the most insane weeks in MLB since I've been paying atttention to the MLB.
You can start with Dylan Bundy's brutal (and that's being kind) effort, well yeah he tried so you can say effort in what Baseball-Reference (and other credible baseball metric sites) call the worst start from a starting pitcher in baseball history according to their play index. Bseball refernce has a database of every play of every game going back I think close to 100 years

That Oriole staff are a bunch of hamburgers. In the past decade, top ten worst starting pitching staff.
Showalter has a good baseball head, he needs to get a hold of GM Dan Duquette and say "yo, DD, get me some mother fukking starters that can get a out for the love of God.

Bundy gets waylayed, ambushed, use whatever adjective you want by Moose, Sal Perez and his granny and the rest of my KC Royal sticks.

Opp Rslt IP H R ER BB SO HR BF Pit AB Entered Exited
    KCR L,7-15 0 5 7 7 2 0 4 7 28 5 1t start tie 1t --- 0 out d7

Honest to God, you can't make this shit up.I mean, who starts a game, against a medocre line up at best. I mean who doesn't get an out from the first seven batters he faces, serves up 2 walks, 5 hits, of which of those 5 hits 4 of them 5 hits were smacked really, really hard and went over the fence four times, one them there hits was a 4 run dinger, also known as a granny. I the medics were checking Mr. Bundy for whiplash after he was removed from the game as he snapped his neck around very hard four times watching those home runs clear the wall.

And there you have it, the worst start from any starting pitcher in MLB history, and he did with only 27 pitches

Thank God for James Paxton of the Seattle Mariners, while Bundy was shitting the bed in Baltimore against your fancy Royal hitters, Paxton was throwing a clean no hiiter against the Blue Jays up north there in Toronto. That Mariner third baseman Kyle Seager made a couple of nice defensive plays to save the day. Those Seager brothers can play.

Good on Paxton, tip of the cap.
That's 3 no hitters so far this year in MLB.
There was the master piece Sean Manaea threw in Oakland.
The LA Dodgers needed to use four pitchers to complete the no hitter in Mexico.
And Paxton's gem was thrown in Canada.

Three no hiiters this year so far in three different countries.
If there's a game to be played in Tokyo or London this season, see if you can get a no hit prop bet.
One last item I noticed this week.
Braves can't stop hitting, I keep waiting for the Braves to stop raking, and they aren't.
60 runs in May already (10 games)

    TONIGHT'S SLATE

You like elite and ace starters, tonight's your night.

Max Scherzer goes for the Nats tonight against 'Zona on the road in the deseert
    Game line -200 (no)
    Run line - 110 (no)
Total 7.5 runs (leaning over, maybe a small play over)

Chris Sale and the Bo Sox take on the Blue Jays with Sanchez in Toronto.
    Game line -175 (no)
    Run line +120
Total 8.5 runs (leaning under, maybe a small play under)

Verlander and the Astros at home against Texas with Cole Hamels.
Game -250 (no) love JV in this spot, just can't -250 in any spot (except in parlays)
Run line - 130 (no) I don't bet run lines with home teams.
Total 8.5 runs (suspicious of this number, big fat pass.)

Arietta (Phils ace) goes against the Mets and Matz.
    Game line Phils -150 (pass)
Run line +140 (no) but tempted, but I can't do it with a home team.
Total 8.5 runs (lean over, but pass)

You can throw Bauer and the Indians in the mix, he's home against KC Royals
    Game line Indians -235 (no)
Run line Indians -130 (big fat no)
Total 8.5 (the over is juiced to the heavens at -125. Over or no play)

    Quick notes.
McCutchen returns to Pittsburh tonight, first time as a SF Giant.
Matt Harvey makes his firsrt ever career start as a Red.TON

    Nash's play
Cards with Weaver +115 run line over SD Padres.
Cards lineup tonight smash lefties, and Lauer (SD) ain't Sandy Koufax.

My play Cards +115 run line.
    1*
    (good to be back)

Nash MLB (Saturday 5/12 afternoon games)

16 game full slate of games today.

Actually it's an overflow of games as Baltimore and Tampa Bay in a back to back double dipper.
It's offically billled as "the double header to deccide who sucks the most in the AL East."
Game 1 Balty starts Alex Cobb and his trash 0 and 4 record, 7.61 ERA, a nd 2.03 ERA. That's horrendous.
    Baltimore starts "undecided"

    Game 2
Balty starts that guy again "undecided" now I'm confused, how can "undecided"
pitch game 1 for one team and game 2 for the other.

Archer gets the ball for the Rays, Chris Archer's first five full seasons have been rock solid. Bona fide stud from 2013
to 2015, 2016 and 2017 were very good only made 4 rookie starts in 2012.
I love Archer, he's logged 8 starts, the first six were rubbage, got hammered in those six starts. gave up a homer in each and every one of those games too.

It was starting to look like the rest of the league figured him out.
Last two Archer starts were solid, gave up 1 earned to Toronto and 2 earned to the Tigers, yet came away with a loss and a ND loss, because the team can't hit.

8 hours of really bad baseball at Camden. Yay.
Simple math says 6 beers for game 1 at 10 dollars per brew, figure 4 beers for the game 2, and your'e out 100 dead presidents alone just on brews.
One team TB can't hit (28th out of 30) in MLB,
The other team can't pitch Balty, but they can crack some long balls however.

    This just in.
Andriese gets the game 1 start, he's a +107/-117 dog.
One question, Andriese has good enough suff, but he's long reliever, sometimes (today for instance) spot starter.
How long can he go, if TB has to burn bullpen in game 1 that means Archer has to go 7+innings.

Baltimore Just called up AAA (Norwalk) David Hess.
Don't know thing one about Hess, except the Oriole fans I do know from fangraphs say he's ahead of schedule.
Kid has monster AAA numbers at Norfolk, and that league is known for big time 20 year old sluggers.
W L ERA GS CG IP H ER SO AVG WHIP
    2 0 2.12 6 0 29.2 20 7 29 0.189 1.08
    Monster numbers indeed

Archer is -137 and +120 on the road on the money line.
137 is a little bit too much for a team that can't hit, and if Archer is going to be a little off and give up 3 runs, can TB offense muster up five runs. I need more than 120 to back Archer on r/l but I love the kid.

    White Sox at Cubs.
    Shields vs. Lester.
I need to take a shower just for mentioning Shields and Lester in the same sentence.
One (Shileds) is chopped hamburger who hasn't been relevant since 2011, and that was the only year he was relevant, and Lester who's filet who's beeen getting it done for a lifetime.

I can not see Shileds and White Sox coming into Wrigley and beating the Cubs.
Are the Cubs the right side? Yes, at -250? No.

Areitta was the right play yesterday against Matz, he pitched 7 shutout innings and took a ND loee.
    at -180 ouch!

Sale struck out 15 and took a ND loss at -200.
    Ouch

Trevor Bauer was gifted a five run lead. Indians still lost.
    -210 ot something . Ocuh

There's more, but most times whem it come to chalk the right play is no play.

I have to go to lunch.

My spot play barking doggy is
    OAKLAND +168
I saw German's no hit for six inning effort last week.
Sharp as a tack, but ain't happening again though.
There are other reasons I like Oakland, but got to go for now.

    OAKLAND
    +168
    1*

    YTD
    3-1

    +2.73 (I'll double check later)
