The Reds will retain manager Bryan Price for the 2018 season, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Despite entering Saturday's game against the Pirates with an abysmal 58-77 record, the Reds will pick up next season's option in Price's contract.

Price, 55, has been Cincinnati's manager since the start of the 2014 season, when he replaced Dusty Baker. The Reds are 266-355 in Price's tenure.

The Reds have not made the postseason under Price, but a number of intriguing young hitters have developed in recent seasons, including Adam Duvall and Billy Hamilton.

Cincinnati has star slugger Joey Votto under contract for the next seven seasons, so Price will at least have one veteran presence in the clubhouse to help the rest of the team develop.

Pitching has been a huge problem for the Reds in recent seasons. In order for Price to have any success as a manager, the Reds will have to upgrade both their rotation and bullpen.
