Rockies are on a slump. Get on the train.

Looks like this is the team that will fall during the second half. First half, they were on fire. Towards the end of the first half in June, they went on a 8 game loosing streak.

So I found the golden ticket here. Fade the Rockies.

Mark Reynolds had a great first two months but he's back to normal. Desmond on the DL, CarGo can't hit, Story a strikeout machine that no longer hits homeruns, a pitching staff that is regressing. This team played way over their heads first half. Definite fade, especially away from home.

NEW YORK – Ian Desmond is just about ready to return from a calf injury, possibly coming off the disabled list as early as Sunday, and that is a piece of good news that the Colorado Rockies desperately need.

A second straight shellacking at the hands of the New York Mets, 9-3 on Saturday night after Friday’s 14-2 demolition, means that the team holding the second wild-card spot in the National League has seen its season run differential drop from plus-42 to plus-24 since the All-Star break. The last time Colorado won back-to-back games was a six-game winning streak from June 14-20.

The Rockies have mostly used Desmond in left field this season, and occasionally at first base. They have All-Star Charlie Blackmon in center and Gerardo Parra playing regularly in multiple outfield spots, as well as first base, not to mention regular first baseman Mark Reynolds. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Raimel Tapia has been tearing the cover off the ball while playing a bit of right field and some left field since Desmond got hurt.

“I think, with any young player, they learn pretty quickly that if they’re in the big league lineup, they’re fine, no matter where they are,” Rockies manager Bud Black said of Tapia. “He’s the type of player that doesn’t get caught up in the mental game at all. He’s a guy that comes ready to play, and plays. I think that’s one of the strengths that Raimel has, is his focus is just on playing. There’s not a lot of outside distractions with this fella. You plug him in, wherever you want to in the lineup, and he plays his game. His game plays at the top, in the middle, it plays at the bottom. He’s another guy that we feel good about when he’s in there, because he brings energy. We think he’s gonna get on base, he can run, defensively he can track a ball down. He’s a promising young player.”
