Victor Martinez was released from the hospital Saturday morning, after spending two nights there with an irregular heartbeat.

The Tigers designated hitter, who went on the 10-day DL Friday, will remain in Detroit for monitoring over the next week to 10 days, according to the MLive Media Group. The Tigers are headed for the West Coast on Sunday after wrapping up their home series with the Rays.

The 38-year-old Martinez left Thursday night's game against the Rays after complaining of dizziness and a fast heartbeat.

"It's a little scary," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus told reporters Friday. "It's not something that, at his age, you generally consider an issue or worry about.

"I think there's a little bit of an unknown factor, which is causing more anxiety than anything else."
