Jered Weaver - You're Done. Give It Up.

    You're embarrassing yourself. Walk away.

He would get shelled by a mediocre varsity team

    Agree
Unless if he develops a knuckleball, he's done.
Starters can't top out at 90mph
    should have faded
note to self: fade Weaver for the rest of the season

The Padres thought he was slowly coming back in his last outing against the Chi Sox.....today, I hope he gets designated for assignment.

Weaver could still have a role in the bullpen

Its amazing that these managers keep giving guys like this a chance. When its over its over man. Bring up new blood. Pelfrey also comes to mind.

Jered Weaver, a 12-year big league veteran and a three-time All-Star, has announced his retirement.

Weaver was struggling mightily with the Padres this year, going 0-5 in nine starts and posting a 7.44 ERA,, a 2.6 BB/9 and 4.9 K/9 ratio over 42.1 innings. He hadn’t posted a sub-4.00 ERA since 2014 and his velocity had, quite famously, sunk into the low 80s and even high 70s at times in recent seasons. A spate of physical setbacks contributed to that, with a hip inflammation ailing him this season and nerve issues in his neck and back afflicting him for the past few years.

I was hoping for him to come back so I could keep fading him.

Books had a big part in his retirement. Couldn't just not hang the games on the board cuz he was pitching, and also couldn't just throw out a 20.5 total for baseball. Was the right thing to do for all parties involved.
