Buddy, I hate to break it to you but you are a delusional Giants fan. Listen here is the bottom line. It is easy to say on paper that the rotatio 1-5 is going to be rock solid. But, your hoping Zito, Sanchez, and Bumgarner all pan out. This won't happen, and if it does Cain will turn to shit. All three won't meet their expectations, that is just how it works. Plus injuries. Your lineup is so terrible already that what if an injury hits. What if Sandoval dislocates his shoulder? If anyone on your team misses time (other then Renteria) you will have your thin line up turned into probably the worst line up in the MLB. Plus, you have off days for guys. Depth is everything in the MLB. If your not the Yankees and signing superstars like it's your job you damn well better have depth. Trust me, I am a Met fan but I was rooting for the Giants all last year. They are just a fun team. Who doesn't love Lincecum and Pablo? Don't talk yourself into them too much or you will be extremley let down. They are lucky to make the playoffs let alone win it all. Expect a lot of 1-0, 2-1, 2-0, losses to come your way this year.

Sanchez, Bumgarner, and Zito will be solid. They won't miss any time, and Cain is definitely not gonna turn into shit, quite the opposite actually.

This is a versatile team that is going to open a lot of eyes this season. The lineup is not as bad as everyone thinks. The lefty starters are young and very capable. Great bullpen, great home field advantage.

Yes Warrior, but you don't go through a whole season without injuries or someone being demoted for performance. Bumgarner is a rookie and they are never a lock. So pitching depth is definitely what they need, and this pickup was essential.

The Giants had about as injury free a season as one could possibly hope for and still got a major boost from Penny late in the season.

It would be folly to hope that all 5 starters this year would pitch the whole season this year without any bumps in the road, it simply doesn't happen. They will need Wellemeyer this year for sure, maybe even someone beyond him, great pickup.

Once again, the Giants a relying on a team of aging veterans whom they are hoping will somehow find a way to repeat a "career year" they might have had 2, 3 or more years ago (see: Rowand, Renteria, Huff, Derosa, Uribe, Molina, etc. etc). If they can, then the Giants may beat the 88 wins they over-achieved last year. But that's too many "ifs" for my comfort. The starting pitching is going to have to win a bunch of tight low-scoring games yet again if they are to make the playoffs.

On the bright side, should they get to the post season, the Lincecum-Cain one-two-punch should be advantageous in a short series with breaks every 2 games or so.

I think any team that is as deep as the giants are legitimate contendors. They obviously need some things to happen for them to win it all. I don't think anyone is a fan of their offense, but if Lincecum stays healthy, Cain continues to progress, Sanchez continue his 2nd half success, this rotation could carry them easily to the playoffs. Bumgarner didn't look like a rookie in his Sept callup and should be able to give them 120-150 solid innings while Zito will continue to prove that Sabean doesn't deserve a GM job in the majors.

For those of you who don't know who Madison Bumgarner is yet, watch out, this kid could easily be the #2 guy in this rotation by season's end. Only problem is they will probably limit his innings some what so you might not get to see him for the entire season. Zito is the worst pitcher in this rotation. Lincecum, Cain and Bumgarner will give all these NL west offenses a run for their money.

First and foremost, they need to beat the Dodgers. L.A. has always been a major issue to San Fran especially with Joe T. as general manager. Then of course the Phillies. These guys just keep comin up shit to take on the best of the best.
The lineup on paper looks fabulous, however time and team chemistry can determine how they shall overcome the rest of the National League. I'd give the Giants 2-3 more years of recuperating until considering them as serious contenders for the N.L. pennant race.
