As reported on Bleacher Report, Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Chris Tillman had been dealing with discomfort or "inflammation" in his throwing shoulder that forced him onto the disabled list on Aug. 24. That came after a 2 inning shellacking by the Houston Astros on August 20 in which Tillman gave up 6 earned runs on 6 hits including a Homer and 5 Walks.

Okay, so in Tillman's return start from the DL on September 11 in Detroit, he went six solid innings giving up only 4 hits, 1 earned run, and 1 walk. But since then, Tillman has been shaky. He gave up 4 hits, 3 earned runs, a Homer, and a Walk in a loss to the offensively challenged Tampa Bay Rays on September 17. Then on September 22, Tillman recorded only 5 outs before being yanked in another loss to the Red Sox in which he gave up 5 hits, 3 earned runs, and 3 walks. Tillman did manage to win his last start, ironically in Toronto, but was less than stellar allowing 6 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), and 3 walks in 5.2 innings. No doubt Tillman has been a great starting pitcher for the Orioles in 2016 up until his stint on the DL, but now I'm not so sure about that.

As far as the Blue Jays Starter, Marcus Stroman, there really is no need to document his numbers. All you need to know is that his record this year was W9-L10 with an ERA of 4.37 including his last start against the Orioles in Rogers Centre in which he gave up 9 hits thru 7 innings in a 4-0 loss. Stroman's ERA is actually worse at Home than on the Road, and he has been absolutely clobbered by the Orioles in 3 of his 4 starts against them in 2016, giving up 18 earned runs in 23 innings of work for a hefty 7.04 ERA.

So what does all this add up to ... Over 8.5 runs will be scored tonight.
