Pablo Sandoval DL'ed for being fat

Red Sox just made up an "injury" with an underlying plan

Red Sox placed 3B Pablo Sandoval on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 11, with a left shoulder sprain.

Sandoval had been dealing with a back injury during spring training, but it appears this stint on the disabled list is not related to that. The Sox haven't just put Sandoval on the DL, though. They have also outlined a conditioning program in the hopes that the third baseman might be able to cut back on some of his weight issues. There is no current timetable for his return. Travis Shaw is Boston's starting third baseman.

    Apr 13 - 4:39 PM

    Right you are sir.

Now what the Sox need to do is stay on this path of youth.
Betts, Boegart, Shaw, Holt, the catcher Swihart, hitting .270 but more importantly can play the catcher position on defense well,.
All these start regularly, Holt can play 5 positions, 4 of of them well.

They admitted they screwed up with Panda, who doesn't screw up? and I am not a Red Sox fan.
People lost their jobs over the Han-Ram signing, I think he's got a little game left.
I don't care if Kimbrel shit the bed the other night, he's an elite closer and that was a brilliant signing.
Koji setting up Kimbrel is a very good tag team.
Price is a rock solid regular season starter, I question his post season mentally however.

Han Ram will be no more soon, Papi is doing his swan song now.
Kids are going to be the future, and they have a good crop of kids.

Rumors are Christian Vasquez getting called up soon. Don't know if Hanigan goes or Swihart is sent down.

Swihart hasnt been that good but he may be playing through an injury

Brutal signing...both $ and years... send him packing with a dozen Dunkin` Donuts and move on.

It is just money and the Sox print it.

Vasquez is the catcher, as long as he can get the bat going anywhere near DECENT.. He threw out 52% of runners last season! One of the best defensive catchers in all of MLB even though he hasnt played much

Pablo Sandoval's former trainer Ethan Banning said Sandoval needs a "baby sitter" to help him watch his weight.

"He needs to be smart enough to say there’s problem," said Banning. "It’s not an exercise thing, it’s an eating thing." Banning worked with Sandoval during the 2010 and 2011 offseasons. According to Banning, Sandoval once gained 21 pounds in just 21 days during a trip home to Venezuela. "He loves to be loved by people," said Banning. "And the way that (Venezuelan) culture connects is through food." We're guessing Sandoval's DL stint has much more to do with his weight problems than his injured shoulder. Sandoval's brother has been in touch with Banning so maybe the two will reconnect.

    Source: Boston Herald
Apr 14 - 10:17 FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Pablo Sandoval (shoulder) will receive a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews.
There's been some speculation that Sandoval isn't really hurt and the Red Sox made up a phantom injury in order to get him off the roster, but this news suggests he's indeed hurt. More will be known about the third baseman's timetable for a return after he's looked at by Andrews.

The Red Sox’ recent decision to designate Pablo Sandoval for assignment could result in the veteran heading back to San Francisco, FanRag’s Jon Heyman writes. Sources close to Sandoval indicate that he would be highly interested in returning to the Giants, despite comments he made during his first Spring Training with Boston in which he claimed the only Giants he would miss were Bruce Bochy and Hunter Pence.

The Giants’ own level of interest is less clear, and GM Bobby Evans recently demurred when asked about Sandoval (which is standard policy, since Sandoval is still technically a member of another organization). Whispers surrounding the club indicate, however, that the team is at least considering bringing Sandoval back.

Once he clears waivers, the Red Sox can outright Sandoval to Triple-A or release him, at which point he’ll be able to sign elsewhere at a prorated league minimum salary. Whatever happens, the Red Sox are extremely likely to be on the hook for the remainder of Sandoval’s contract, which pays him about $50MM more through 2019.

seems a natural to open up a restaurant of some type. not sure what his favorite food was (is) but why bother playing. make the red sox pay the entire amount of what's left on that bad contract. hedge fund owner won't miss the money. he'll write it off somehow.
