    NL to add DH?!

    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-bi...194448854.html

    I hope not......

If more offense is what they want why not more the bases in to 60ft, move the fences in to 300 ft all around and just make it beer league softball

Watching a pitcher bat 0.83 and sac bunt is terrible. It inflates pitcher's #'s. I don't give a rat's ass about double switches and strategy. I don't need to see Bartolo Colon fan 3 times. Speed the game up and make it uniform. The absurd amount of interleague play has already bastardized the leagues. Just be done with it.

I uses to be a traditionalist on this subject, but have changed my mind after the Astros moved to the AL, and I started seeing the DH frequently. I think it is better to have the pitcher be a specialist like a kicker/punter in football, or a goalie in soccer or hockey. Let them totally focus on their trade. They already determine a big part of the game without having to go to the plate and wiff, in most cases.

The main thing I have disliked about the DH is that it allows a player to get multiple at bats without having to take the field. That's just not baseball. Baseball is about hitting AND fielding. That being said the DH is prevalent at so many lower levels now, that many pitchers are a danger to themselves at the plate and on the bases. So this change is inevitable, I'll have to live with it.

As for the rumors of the designated hitter coming soon to the National League, Reds COO Bob Castellini offered a one-word comment Thursday — “No.”

Like everyone else in baseball, Castellini heard the remarks of Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak earlier this month that there was “more momentum” for the DH to come to the National League. Mozeliak’s comments plus the upcoming expiration of Major League Baseball’s Collective Bargaining Agreement with the MLB Players’ Association set baseball Twitter and blogs into overreaction mode, forecasting the DH for as soon as 2017.

That’s not happening, and if Castellini has a say — and he does — it won’t ever happen.

“All that is blown out of proportion,” Castellini said before at the kickoff of the Reds Caravan on Thursday morning. “There’s no groundswell for it. The commissioner had a press interview after our owners’ meeting and he was taken out of context.”

This will happen eventually and it will be a great day. Every second or third inning gets ruined because of a goddamn sorry ass pitcher coming to the plate.

The game has evolved and has become more specialized. A vast majority of pitchers don't even want to hit. When it's cold, they leave their jacket on, they don't run to first, it's attrocious. 90% of them are an easy K. Inflates NL pitcher's stats so bad.

The DH is nowhere near as bad as pitchers who pitch to only one or two batters.

DH was a mistake. It is a perversion.

The discussion should be when the AL is getting rid of it - that would be sick.

So is interleague play and having an exhibition game decide home field advantage for the World Series.

The leagues should be eliminated and the divisions based on geography.

Always been a fan about the DH. Naturally being in Detroit... and a Tigers fan... you get use to it throughout your entire life.

But, I also do like watching a National League game when the pitcher bats. I'm also use to it.

I think it gives you "variety". And some people do like variety.

    So... just leave everything alone.

Inter league play is a disaster. They're just blurring the leagues. Bad trend.

If I don't like the WS home field thing is because it's gimmicky. Doesn't mean much to me though.

I would rather watch a pitcher bat because that is REAL baseball. If you can't field your position you have no business batting or playing professional baseball for that matter.

Let the nl have a dh. With pitchers salaries rising to absurd amounts do you want Zack grienke or David price pulling or breaking something rounding out a ground ball? It makes sense it's time.

I love the idea, is silly to play in two differents ways. Batting is equal to funny games.

Reds outfielder Adam Duvall is not a fan of the DH. He prefers the old school National League style of play. Here's what he told ESPN's Mark Saxon recently:
    One rule you would change?
Duvall: I don't know. I mean, I enjoy watching National League games because of the pitchers having to hit. Maybe that would be it. It makes it so much more interesting, having to juggle the pieces rather than just being able to leave it alone. The double switch is very interesting because you have to know what you're doing and it can change a ballgame. So, maybe get rid of the DH would be it.
