Right yesterday was the first time he hasn't pitched over 100 pitches and 8 innings since the middle of August

And he easily could have gone further, but the Cubs want to make sure the tank is full when it really counts. He'll probably pitch short next start as well.

With Arrieta and Lester, if the Cubs had a serious #3 they'd really be dangerous.

here is the article that I read, d2bets. You might have read it already, but I thought it was interesting. The tinkering with his mechanics and release point has transformed him from a barely serviceable MLB pitcher to a likely Cy Young winner. The recent 80 inning stretch that you referenced is absolutely ridiculous.

He's definitely a Game 7 kind of starter. How do you not start him?

Dang Kershaw and Grienke are having amazing years and wont win Cy Young.
Playoffs will be interesting, lets see who pitches well when it counts.

He is going to pitch the WC game. If the Cubs advance, he'd be in line to pitch (only) Game 3 of the NLDS. Cubs would need Lester to come up big to win the NLDS.
