i don't mean.. against Toronto... or Houston... or even Cleveland–
i must mean in general. The Yankees are a minor league team.
Granted they have a massive $216 Million payroll...
and are the most expensive team in the AL, (every year)
and the second most in all of MLB– (usually most MLB)
but they just can't score, AND they can't pitch..
they struggle against bad teams, they get totally shut down by good teams..
they need the other team to lose,
in Game 1 vs. Houston, (Perez walked the bases loaded in the 9th)
they can't just win, or clearly beat the other team over a whole series.
if they get behind 3-4 Runs,, the game is OVER. The bats can't
catch a pitcher's back and get him the win anyways.
The Yankees just don't have the mental fortitude,
or the heart to muster that energy required for a big-fat comeback..seems like they just quit.
sure, they might 'almost' come back... put together a tiny spat of bases.. (usually walks). but not the big one that a team needs.
I think the future looks pretty bleak for the Yankee fans and their fan base,
i really can't see this going anywhere..
PLUS with all the massive long term contracts they are stuck with,
it looks like years of pain on the horizon
Cashman always hangs onto the wrong prospects..
i remember when he almost traded for Cliff Lee
(when Lee was tops in MLB).
That would have put Sabathia AND Lee on the same
pitching staff...
he skipped on Lee, because he refused to part with Jesus Montero.
Montero never made the Majors for a whole season.
then as it played out, it was Cliff Lee who beat the Yankees with Texas
to go to the World Series
might be time for a new GM in New York
